      Overview

      BRMi is seeking a UX Designer to support a large financial services client. We are seeking a talented and experienced UX Design contractor to develop user-centered design solutions that will enhance the functionality and search experience on our company intranet. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in UX Design, with a focus on evaluating and improving search functionalities. This role involves conducting user research, analyzing search data, and implementing design solutions to ensure our intranet is intuitive, efficient, and user-friendly.

      Locations: Vienna VA, Winchester VA or Pensacola FL.

      Salaries per location:

      Pensacola: $68-$73KWinchester: $76-$8K1Vienna: $84-$89K

      Responsibilities

      To support and/or develop user-centered design solutions for all levels of products and digital initiatives via user interface solutions and interaction models. Prioritizes initiatives and coordinates deployment of current and future User Experience (UX) design projects. Serves as a UX project lead, representing and managing team involvement of large complex technical projects. Works independently. Oversee/direct most complex/unusual tasks with significant impact and broad latitude. Responsibilities • Develop and recommend comprehensive user experience (UX) strategies • Analyze the user experience by evaluating the applications end-to-end, seeking out opportunities for improved experiences • Influence project team members and business partners by explaining the impact of designing/developing with the end-user in mind • Define user experience goals and oversees research initiatives • Influence strategy and anticipates internal/external business challenges • Originate new concepts, strategies or innovative approaches to designs that have significant impact or high visibility • Analyze and recommends the right Design Thinking methodology based on the product, channel, audience, and the application requirements or workflow • Create and applies various user experience models such as journey maps, swim lane diagrams, empathy maps, use case scenarios, personas, etc.to guide the team • Create wireframes and prototypes based off requirements that meet business and user objectives • Work with business partners and market researchers, designers, and program managers to solve complex UX design problems and deliver results • Act as subject matter expert for user insights and user experience best practices • Recommend user experience improvement opportunities • Influence UX visual and interaction designs and ensures they remain engaging to the customer • Act as stakeholder in user readiness development plans, aligning self-help and training with user experience goals • Manage multiple projects under tight deadlines across a broad variety of product categories and audiences • Proactively draw out user experience or design issues and successfully address those issues to ensure projects stay on track to meet interim project milestones, project time/scope/quality/funding expectations • Lead and direct UX design project teams • Perform as a project team member, owning UX deliverables throughout Development Lifecycle for multiple projects within various phases • Ensure that the IT deliverables meet design expectations • Remain abreast of emerging technologies, and industry best practices and trends • Mentor and transfers knowledge to Junior and mid-level team members • Perform other related duties as assigned

      Qualifications

      • Extensive experience of design fundamentals, such as color theory, typography and composition • Extensive experience of interaction design, visual design, and industry standards • Extensive experience of user centered design processes and best practices • Extensive knowledge with modern development standards, techniques and methodologies (e.g., HTML, XHTML, AJAX, JavaScript, CSS, etc.) • Expert knowledge of best practices for web and mobile-based content, tools, and forms • Extensive experience interpreting requirements into executable design solutions • Demonstrated ability to lead, guide and mentor others • Demonstrated ability to articulate design concepts to a broad audience, including non-designers • Ability to lead teams and mentor junior staff • Desired – Experience enhancing search functionality and user discoverability on intranet or enterprise content platforms, including relevance tuning, metadata strategy, and search interface design and navigation. • Desired - Knowledge of web, mobile and application design • Desired - Human Factors Institute Certified Analyst • Expert cross-group collaboration and persuasion skills • Expert skill in project management to include establishing and leading project teams; managing timelines/deadlines/resources; ensuring successful project implementation • Expert design communication skills • Advanced detail and organizational skills • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, User-Centered Design/Human-Computer Interaction, or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience • Desired - Master's degree in Graphic Design, User-Centered Design/HumanComputer Interaction, or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
