  UX Engineer - Hybrid

  Please Note: This position is hybrid; however, you must reside within driving distance of our offices in Losa Angeles or Costa Mesa, CA to attend meetings and team collaboration.

  As a UX Engineer in AAA’s Futures Practice, you’ll operate at the intersection of product and service design, engineering, and strategic foresight innovation. You will bring speculative service ideas and emerging technologies to life through interactive prototypes, concept simulations, and future-state user-centered interfaces.

  This role bridges the “what if” and the “what works.” You’ll collaborate closely with foresight strategists, designers, researchers, and technologists to create experimental experiences that help AAA envision and test tomorrow’s services, today.

  What You Will Do

  • Prototype Future-Facing Experiences: Translate speculative concepts, multimodal interaction models (e.g., voice, gesture, spatial UI), and design mockups into functional prototypes across platforms such as web, mobile, AR/VR, and agent-based systems.
  • AI-Enhanced Interaction Design: Leverage AI tools to accelerate prototyping, identify usability issues, and deliver personalized, high-fidelity user experiences that push the boundaries of conventional UX.
  • Prototype System Architecture: Build and maintain a flexible sandbox toolkit or prototype design system that enables rapid iteration and consistency across foresight and R&D initiatives.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration & Iteration: Work closely with designers, engineers, foresight strategists, and stakeholders to co-create, test, and refine future concepts through workshops, usability testing, and iterative sprints.
  • Strategic Presentation & Stakeholder Engagement: Present interactive prototypes and user insights to leadership, contributing to decision-making and aligning future concepts with strategic goals.

  What You Will Need

  • Front-End & Prototyping Expertise: Proficient in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern frameworks like React, Vue, or Next.js. Skilled with prototyping tools such as Framer, Unity, Figma + Dev Mode, and Webflow for rapid concept development.
  • Design Systems & Visual Consistency: Experienced with design systems, including components, tokens, and responsive UI development, ensuring consistency and scalability across digital products.
  • Futures-Driven UX Thinking: Adept at translating abstract or speculative ideas into tangible experiences. Brings a strong foundation in user-centered design, accessibility, and multimodal interaction design (e.g., conversational UI, voice-first, sensor-rich environments).
  • AI-Integrated Interface Design: Familiar with AI-enhanced design workflows and generative UI tools (e.g., LLM-driven elements), with bonus skills in WebGL, ARKit/ARCore, and experimental UI technologies.
  • Storytelling & Usability Testing: Creates functional prototypes and animated transitions to test and communicate future-state experiences. Experienced in usability testing and collaborating with cross-functional teams to refine and validate innovative concepts.

  The starting pay range for this position is:

  $97,200.00 - $129,300.00

  Additionally, for full time positions, you will be eligible to participate in our incentive program based upon the achievement of organization, team and personal performance.
