- Perform thorough financial and business due diligence to determine risk/reward profiles of investment opportunities
- Create and assess complex financial models
- Draft investment memoranda
- Present investment opportunities to senior executives of the firm
- Manage pipeline of new investment opportunities and assist with new idea generation
- Supervise analysts on the team in the performance of their duties
- Monitor and report on existing portfolio of investments
- Develop relationships with General Partners to drive further access and expand opportunity set
- Support client relationships and new business development efforts
- At least 3 years of work experience, preferably at least two years in investment banking or principal investing position.
- Outstanding academic record
- Significant experience performing complex financial analysis, modeling, and company valuations, including discounted cash flow and comparable company analyses
- Ability to conduct industry research, articulate opinions and write clear and concise memoranda on investment opportunities
- Strong written, oral communication, and interpersonal skills
- Strong interest and commitment to private equity investing
- Strong work ethic, professional demeanor and appearance
- Willingness to work 50+ hours / week, occasionally on weekends, and travel 10+% of time
- A team-oriented approach and an ability to interact productively within a diverse, small company environment.
- Ability to work in the US without requiring sponsorship

Venture and Growth Equity Investment Associate
To satisfy the needs of our growing client base, Hamilton Lane is looking to hire an Associate to join our Venture and Growth Equity Investment Team in San Francisco. The Associate will be responsible for evaluating and monitoring direct equity and fund investment opportunities generated through our network of General Partner relationships. The investment professional will also be responsible for other special projects related to the venture and growth equity platform.
For San Francisco Only- The estimated annual base salary for this position is between $120-160K, dependent upon level. Compensation packages are based on factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skills, certifications, education, and specific general location.
