Qualifications
To Qualify for the GS-11 Grade Level: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level in the federal service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, or abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
Examples of specialized experience include: working in a vessel traffic center which involves utilizing Federal, State, and municipal regulations governing the use of maritime vessels; promoting the safe and efficient movement of maritime traffic; ensuring that vessel traffic is properly informed, advised, or directed in order to reduce the probability of collisions, rammings, groundings, and environmental damage; monitoring the progress of vessels, and informing, advising, or directing vessel operators; employing computers and communications technology to provide critical information and guidance to a master, pilot, or the persons in charge of vessels.
OR
Have successfully completed a Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related.
OR
A combination of specialized experience and graduate level education that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position.
