Job Description

- providing clerical support to the Veterans Services Supervisor involving managing the schedule, preparing and editing correspondence, travel arrangements, credit card statements and invoices for signature, compiling monthly reports, and arranging meetings and events;
- answering incoming main phone lines, responding to voicemails, and greeting and directing walk-in traffic by providing appropriate information and referrals;
- developing and maintaining a FAQ resource to appropriately address veteran or family requests that can be fulfilled by other agencies or organizations so the veterans services team can focus on claims, appeals, or outreach efforts;
- maintaining a call log of incoming requests for VSO engagement;
- managing incoming correspondence, to include U.S. mail, VA communication, fax communications, and the general email inbox and responding to informational inquiries and making appropriate referrals;
- supporting additional Veterans Service Officer (VSO) functions as needed, including inventory and ordering of office supplies, upkeep of equipment, and maintenance of the office area; and
- providing operational support to the VA Training Officer, to include tracking of training requirements for veterans service officers statewide.
The Colorado Department of Military & Veterans Affairs (DMVA) has four major operational divisions: Army National Guard, Air National Guard, Civil Air Patrol, and Veterans Affairs. These divisions utilize state and federal resources to provide our communities, state, and nation with a ready military force for national defense and state emergency response as well as providing assistance to our Colorado Veterans.

This position ensures the efficient and effective performance of administrative duties in support of daily office operations. Experience Only: One (1) year of clerical experience.OR
Education and Experience: A combination of related education such as Business Administration and/or relevant clerical experience equal to one (1) year.
