      Overview

      Palmer Lake Veterinary Clinic , a CareVet partner, has an opening for an Associate Veterinarian to join our team! We are a well-established, three doctor practice in a brand new state-of-the-art facility located in lovely Palmer Lake, Colorado just 20 minutes north of Colorado Springs. We are closed on weekends!

      About the Position

      We are looking for an experienced well-rounded veterinarian looking to work in clinical small animal medicine, providing wellness, dentistry, and surgery procedures. The ideal candidate should have effective communication skills, work well with staff, be a thorough diagnostician. A skilled surgeon that feels comfortable with all aspects of dentistry including surgical extractions, would be ideal, but not required. Full-time or part-time positions are available.

      We have a tenured team of three doctors and support staff and foster a collaborative work environment; and have been proudly serving the community for 19 years. Our team has a high level of work ethic and we are continually looking for ways to improve our practice to provide high quality care for our clients.

      About the Hospital

      We practice high-quality medicine and treat our clients and their pets like family. Our practice is fully equipped with digital radiography, digital dental radiography, ultrasound, therapeutic laser, a full surgical suite with current anesthesia monitoring equipment, Idexx in-house lab equipment, high-speed and slow-speed dental equipment, electrosurgery, fully stocked pharmacy, and Cornerstone practice management software. Our wonderful staff consists of experienced front desk personnel and talented, experienced veterinary technicians and technician assistants. Our appointments are typically 30 minutes allowing you time to work up cases and interact with your clients. We are closed on weekends!

      Responsibilities

      • Examine animals to assess their health and diagnose problems
      • Treat and dress wounds
      • Perform surgery on animals
      • Test for and vaccinate against diseases
      • Operate medical equipment, such as x-ray machines
      • Advise animal owners about general care, medical conditions, and treatments
      • Prescribe medication
      • Work closely in collaboration with team members to provide high quality care

      Qualifications

      • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) or equivalent degree required
      • Licensure in the state/s candidate will be working
      • Ability to show compassion to both pets and their owners
      • Outstanding dexterity in handling animals while performing precise tasks
      • Ability to react quickly and make decisions under pressure about the wellbeing of an animal
      • Strong fondness and understanding of animals
      • Good communication and interpersonal skills
      • Knowledge of animal behavior
      • Ability to use medical technologies during diagnosis, research and surgery of animals
