      We’re seeking a future team member in the role of Back End Engineer to join our Data Engineering team. This role is in Pittsburgh, PA - HYBRID/REMOTE.

      DPX provides a master for OTC (over-the-counter) Derivatives and asset pricing\valuations to all internal accounting platforms used by the Asset Servicing business. The system sources and performs calculations to produce valuation prices and then acts as the validation engine prior to delivering them to the respective downstream applications. The application provides independent valuation of all OTC assets in our client's portfolios daily, enabling accurate calculation of fund accounting portfolio valuations.


      The DPX application team is looking for an experienced mid/senior level Java developer to assist with the modernization, straight-through-processing, and reengineer of its application. The candidate will be a key developer who will assist the team with starting a long-term strategy of modernizing and re-platforming the application front to back. The current application is built on Windows, .Net, and SQL Server. Modernization efforts will contribute to and ultimately develop a Linux containerized Java, Spring Boot, and Angular application, including Oracle or an HDFS based data repository, and our internal cloud-based solution for containerization. The developer will assist with design and development of core application components for data sourcing, processing, exception workflow, and distribution.

      The ideal candidate for this role will possess strong skills in the following:

      • Strong analytical skills and ability to articulate ideas and design to a group of peers.
      • Solid Java and Spring enterprise developer and matching SQL skills.
      • Extensive experience in Spring Batch Framework, Spark, Kafka Streaming Solutions
      • Prior experience in Sprint Boot (micro services) framework.
      • Angular, HTML5, and JavaScript for front end development.
      • Ability to work with Linux, SQL Server, Oracle or other enterprise RDBMS.
      • Experience with Docker, GitLab CI/CI, Junit, BDD or other automated build and testing frameworks is also being sought.
      • Strong knowledge of multi-tier systems is a must as is being able to design and develop components of a critical multi-tiered system.
      • Knowledge of tradeable financial products or security pricing and global exchanges is a significant plus.
      • .Net knowledge a plus to asset migration but not mandatory
      • Exposure to Agile development processes and tools such as Confluence, JIRA, and Kanban.
      • Experience with databases both relational (Oracle, MSSQL) and non-relational (NoSQL, HBase)

      Design and development of backend features and components. Provides application software development services or technical support in more complex situations. May also be responsible for requirements gathering and BRD/SRD preparation. Has thorough knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle. Conducts reviews of the test Plan and test Data. Integrate software components into a fully functional software system. Apply security and privacy principles.Execute full lifecycle software development. Develop software verification plans and quality assurance procedures. Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade existing systems. Ensure software is updated with latest features. Participate in deployment process following all change controls. Provide ongoing maintenance, support and enhancements in existing systems and platforms. Provide recommendations for continuous improvement.Active learning engagement. Complete all required mandatory training / policy awareness curricula on time. Use learning tools such as Pluralsight to complete both recommended and aspirational targets set in personal development plans.Demonstrate team work. Leverage existing products/functionality and promote reuse. Work alongside other engineers on the team to elevate technology and consistently apply best practices. Collaborate closely with all the other members of the team to take shared responsibility for the overall efforts that the team has committed to. Collaborate cross-functionally with data engineers, business users, project managers and other engineers to achieve elegant solutions. Utilize local meetups to gain and share knowledge.Compiles documentation written by more senior developers of all procedures used in system. Acts as mentor to junior level engineers Prior experience with using a specific application development toolkit and knowledge of a backend development language required (i.e. C#, Java) S/he must have knowledge about the functions and features of modern and traditional structured methods for developing applications. Communications and organization skills; team work skills Contributes to the achievement of related teams' objectivesMODIFIED BASED UPON LOCAL REGULATIONS/REQUIREMENTSBachelor's degree in computer science engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required5-7 years of experience in software development required; experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus. Job holder must have understanding interdependencies and business impact of future IT plans. S/he must have prior lead experience selecting and implementing vendor-specific methodologies and prior consulting experience with structured methodologies. Extensive experience with developing and supporting backend environment required. Job holder must have broad experience with multi-platform development tools and toolkits..
