- Inherit - and get to lead - a talented team that has been instrumental to DoorDash’s category leadership
- Define, shape and express the DoorDash brand across every surface
- Build DoorDash’s approach to brand investment - define goaling, input and output metrics, early indicators, and long term impact
- Work with operations and finance teams to set the right goals and KPIs with the team, and work with marketing partners and cross-functional operators to create integrated plans to achieve these goals.
- Articulate the DoorDash story and connect it with customers (across all three sides of the Marketplace) to drive category-leading preference
- Collaborate with some of the best creatives (both internal and external via world class agency partners) in the world to make category and career-defining work
- Create a rich brand world that supports new business lines and expansion opportunities, including new categories (examples: Grocery, Retail) and new business models (example: DashPass).
- Solve for both the short and long term: build the business today and the brand over time.
- Build models and frameworks for budgeting, campaign tracking, and goal forecasting.
- 15+ years experience in marketing (tech & marketplace experience a plus), preferably with a strong foundation in Brand but with diverse experience across other parts of the Marketing capability set (e.g. performance marketing, product marketing, insights, integrated marketing, etc)
- Proven experience building world-class brands that exert outsized influence within the categories they operate in
- Proven experience leading the development of remarkable creative work that earns an outsized share of the cultural conversation
- Bachelor’s degree required, MBA a plus
- Excellent verbal, written communication and presentation skills, ability to organize information in a high level way to communicate key points to partners and internal stakeholders.
- Experience in both building high-performing teams from 0 to 1, and from 1 to 100
- Deep experience managing towards, and balancing, brand & performance-oriented goals to drive company-level P&L outcomes.
- Proven ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment, with a strong bias to action.
- Ability to synthesize data, make data-driven decisions and balance quantitative measurement with an intuition-driven bias to action.
- Creative and entrepreneurial - you enjoy tackling unsolved problems and finding creative solutions with limited resources
- Storyteller - you know how to distill complex marketing strategies and initiatives into a clear vision and story to drive education and visibility with senior leaders across the org

About the Role
You will lead the Brand & Creative teams, Centers of Excellence which sit across the key Audience (Consumers, Merchants, Dashers) Marketing teams, and are responsible for defining our brand and messaging, then expressing it in compelling and resonant ways for each audience (and relevant sub-segments therein) across every surface. The leader who fills this position must be able to understand customers (and their needs and motivations) deeply; define an ownable and differentiated positioning that sets brands apart in their category; keep a finger on the pulse of consumer culture - not just responding to culture, but creating it; and consistently lead teams (inclusive of external agency partners) to create remarkable work that keeps DoorDash top of mind, drives preference, and ultimately delivers significant growth to the business.

You must be: a compelling storyteller able to articulate what makes DoorDash special and influence teams across the business to bring the brand to life in every area; an inspiring leader with experience building and bringing out the best in high-performing teams; and equal parts creative and commercial - able to draw a line from brand investment to top and bottom line impact. You must be able to think big picture and paint a long-term vision and story one moment, and seamlessly transition to diving into the weeds on execution the next. This candidate must be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment, lead via influence and vision, and have a “roll up your sleeves” attitude, strong bias-to-action, and entrepreneurial spirit.
You will report directly to the CMO, and will be immediately responsible for a talented team of over 60 Brand & Creative folks.

Compensation
The location-specific base salary range for this position is listed below. Compensation in other geographies may vary.
Actual compensation within the pay range will be decided based on factors including, but not limited to, skills, prior relevant experience, and specific work location. For roles that are available to be filled remotely, base salary is localized according to employee work location. Please discuss your intended work location with your recruiter for more information.
