The VP, Clinical Integration and Operations is responsible for developing and leading efforts to innovate and integrate clinical services across Mass General Brigham, including the two founding Academic Medical Centers, Specialty Hospitals and Community Hospitals. The VP is the primary leader in aligning multiple clinical areas, disciplines, sites of care, and team processes to achieve identified objectives. Partners with chiefs of services from initial integration into clinical program consolidation, creation, restructuring. Develops the approach, manages the resources, and measures success of clinical integration and coordination. On behalf of the COO and ACOO, the VP will collaborate with physician and administrative leadership across the enterprise to achieve set goals and lead operational initiatives.
Responsibilities:
· Establish a clinical integration strategy and model that supports the systems mission, vision, strategy, and goals.
· Influence and drive operations and clinical integration across the system, working closely with clinical and administrative leadership to design and implement change.
· Integration planning and execution for clinical collaborations, service lines, enterprise services and operational efficiency initiatives as identified.
· Responsible for the start-up activities of clinical services established at the enterprise level including approach, facilitation of constituents, analysis of clinical process and services, negotiation, financials, and resourcing.
· Develop key performance indicators to measure the success of clinical integration across the system, oversee the implementation process improvement efforts identified by the teams and to identify operational efficiencies.
· Oversee or participate in multiple operational and clinical committees and workgroups.
· Lead activities to make sure set priorities and initiatives are implemented and meet deadlines.
· Principal duties are focused on making time, information, and the decision processes more effective for the COO and ACOO, while considering the needs of the entire enterprise.
· Develop and continually tests and refines integration and operational efforts to meet the needs of the system, employees, referring providers and most importantly the patients.
· Drive integration and alignment of various clinical and operational strategies for the system.
· Develop and oversee MGB clinical integration. Ensure information is communicated vertically and laterally across the system as needed, and keep leadership informed of progress and challenges.
· Develop a collaborative team-based environment that works effectively across a system-wide approach, closely with physician and administrative leaders.
· Daily support for the COO/ACOO and to execute against the systems operational initiatives.
A minimum of a Master’s degree in healthcare, business, or relevant discipline is required. A clinical background is highly desirable. A minimum of seven years of experience in a healthcare leadership role within a healthcare system.
· Comfortable operating in a matrix environment to be effective.
· Substantial working knowledge of integrated academic, specialty, and community hospital system networks.
· Sound understanding of the fundamentals of healthcare operations, clinical program development, and clinical integration planning, implementation, and ongoing oversight and management activities.
· Experience in working with matrixed teams across a healthcare system to identify opportunities, create goals and execute on plans successfully and timely.
· Extensive knowledge and experience leading and managing complex organization change and relationship development and management.
· Demonstrated ability to skillfully counsel, collaborate, inspire, and build confidence in others; create alliances, obtain support and respect form diverse groups and foster an understanding and commitment to the organization and teams involved.
· Possess a track record of developing a good rapport with physicians, clinical, and administrative teams with the ability to grow and maintain relationships.
· Demonstrated successful program development, change management and relationship building in previous roles.
· Proven success with administrative and clinical leaders to pursue operational excellence and exceptional patient services and outcomes. Leads with transparency, integrity and authenticity.
· Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Capable of functioning in ambiguous environments and handling multiple diverse tasks simultaneously.
· Results-driven and system-thinking skills with ability to provide thought leadership across a large, diverse, and complex healthcare enterprise.
· Excellent analytical, tactical, execution, and organizational abilities required. Works well in a fast-paced, dynamic and multi-functional environment.
