- Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies aligned with NAACP's mission and goals, encompassing media relations, public relations, social media, email communications, and internal communications.
- Drive the organization's communications efforts across various channels, including traditional media, digital platforms, social media, and email marketing.
- Provide strategic counsel to senior leadership on messaging, media opportunities, and crisis communications across all communication channels.
- Oversee the creation and dissemination of press releases, media kits, speeches, talking points, social media content, email campaigns, and other communications materials.
- Develop and maintain a strong network of media contacts, and proactively pitch stories to secure media coverage.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistent messaging across all communications channels, including social media platforms and email communications.
- Develop communications strategies for aligned messaging for NAACP branches and units.
- Oversee social media strategies to engage and expand the NAACP's online community, drive awareness of key issues, and promote events and initiatives.
- Oversee the organization's email communications, ensuring effective targeting, segmentation, and delivery of messages to various stakeholders.
- Monitor media coverage, social media conversations, and public sentiment related to the NAACP and its initiatives, and provide regular reports and analysis to senior leadership.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and emerging communication technologies to continuously enhance the NAACP's communications capabilities across all channels.
- A bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field. A master's degree is preferred.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in communications, public relations, or a related field, with a proven track record of success in strategic communications planning and execution.
- Strong understanding of the media landscape, including traditional and digital media platforms, social media platforms, and email marketing.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling messages for diverse audiences across different communication channels.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and work effectively under pressure.
- Proven experience in crisis communications and issue management.
- Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with the ability to mentor and guide.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The NAACP is seeking a highly experienced and strategic professional to serve as the Vice President of Communications. Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communications, the VP of Communications will play a crucial role in shaping and executing the organization's communications strategies and initiatives.
