Vice President, Leveraged Finance Portfolio Management

- Ongoing monitoring and management of a selection of non-investment grade LBO financings originated by Leveraged Finance
- Portfolio analysis and reporting for internal purposes
- Ensuring portfolio adherence to internal and external procedures and requirements (e.g. compliance, KYC)
- Identification and execution of refinancing and cross-sell opportunities with Portfolio borrowers in conjunction with LF Origination and with sector, geography and product specialists as relevant
- Monitoring credit profile for a portfolio of borrowers via management information and internal and external research sources to ensure covenant compliance and early identification of performance variances to expectations
- Develop relevant analysis including financial models, sensitivity scenarios, the impact of potential reorganisations, disposals, IPOs, synergies, key ratios analysis (including where appropriate credit rating agencies'), and make informed judgements on the available liquidity to advise decision making at senior levels
- Preparation of credit reviews, ongoing monitoring analysis, refinancing / recapitalisation proposals, waiver / consent requests and secondary trading proposals for submission to Risk and other internal processes as appropriate
- Mining the existing Leveraged Finance portfolio to identify refinancing and cross-sell opportunities, working with LF Origination and MUFG sector, geography and product specialists as appropriate to prepare and deliver pitch materials, representing MUFG at meetings and building relationships at the appropriate levels to create and maintain trust with the corporate clients
- Support all aspects of deal execution as may be required during the development and execution of a mandate for existing portfolio borrowers
- Adoption of new transactions originated by Leveraged Finance
- Build relationships throughout MUFG to establish a peer network, gather relevant information and help to ensure effective inter-departmental collaboration
- Build relationships at the appropriate business levels to create and maintain trust with corporate clients, partner banks and (in certain circumstances) private equity funds on transactions
- Support Relationship Managers to maintain an ongoing dialogue with clients to maximise MUFG's opportunities to win future business
- Work collaboratively across the wider team to support the various functions as and when the need arises
- Management of non-financial risks related to the client base, e.g. conducting ongoing compliance and KYC checks for LF clients in line with internal and external processes and procedures
- Experience working within a banking / advisory or transactional environment
- Understanding of LBO structures and instruments, transaction experience thereof an advantage
- Experience in financial modelling (particularly credit ratings and ideally LBOs)
- Experience in execution of transactions (including credit process) within tight timeframes is advantageous
- Experience in credit analysis and due diligence review
- Transaction experience in EMEA, comfortable working in different cultures and capable of flexing style to accommodate our client base is advantageous
- Client-facing experience an advantage
- Detailed understanding and practical experience of financial modelling
- Understanding of the fundamentals of deal structuring
- Knowledge of banking documentation
- Sound credit skills at an intermediate level
- Negotiation skills with internal partners
- A good team player with excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to effectively manage tight deadlines and different stakeholders
- Clear communication skills both written and oral
- Knowledge of leveraged debt capital markets and M&A dynamics
- Corporate finance principles / accounting knowledge
- Degree level education or equivalent
- Relevant post degree qualification preferred (e . g. CFA or ACA)

Overview of the Department/Section
Leveraged Finance is responsible for the origination, structuring and execution of LBO’s with financial sponsors and for working alongside relationship managers and other coverage functions within the organization for the origination and execution of transactions for leveraged corporates. This role is within the Leveraged Finance Portfolio team, which is responsible for the monitoring and management of the leveraged loan exposures originated by the group.
