      Vice President, Medical Customer Engagement

      The Vice President, Medical Customer Engagement will embrace an enterprise leadership mindset pushing the boundaries of clinical practice by bringing unique value to the healthcare ecosystem, with primary focus to driving the best patient outcomes. This role will provide inspirational leadership and vision to a diverse Field Medical team that supports all therapeutic areas across Bayer US Pharmaceuticals division and will lead ways to optimize and best serve the health care professionals we engage with and the patients they care for.

      More specifically, this role will oversee the team's efforts to provide scientific and clinical expertise to help educate healthcare professionals on the appropriate use of the company's products, gain insights over evolving health care standards and practices, and establish effective, impactful relationships with payers and health care systems across the US.

      YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

      The primary responsibilities of this role, Vice President, Medical Customer Engagement, are to:

      • Deliver our vision of Medical Affairs credibility and excellence by leading a diverse team of Senior Field Medical Directors and Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs), Medical Field Health Economic Outcomes Research (HEOR), Medical Center of Excellence colleagues, and Medical Information Support;
      • Maintain and enhance Bayer’s reputation for excellence in science, culture, and customer centricity across not only the Medical Affairs ecosystem, but the Pharma cross functional field ecosystem;
      • Collaborate cross-functionally with Commercial, Therapeutic Area VP heads, Clinical Development, and other internal teams to develop scientific platforms, customize engagements, and disseminate medical information and drive scientific exchange to targeted HCP audiences;
      • Partner with key external experts and medical associations to implement evidence-based scientific exchange, continuing medical education, and other educational initiatives;
      • Leverage insights and analytics to establish and monitor outcome-driven KPIs related to field medical activities and gather insight to enhance expertise delivery and scientific exchange;
      • Stay up to date on clinical data, research developments and emerging treatment practices relevant to the company's therapeutic areas;
      • Ensure field medical teams comply with all pharmaceutical regulations, industry & internal codes of conduct and compliance;
      • Maintain budget responsibility for field medical teams and associated functions;
      • Act as an inspirational executive, with a proven ability to attract, motivate, and develop professionals, and fuse them into a well-functioning team.

      Your success will be driven by your demonstration of our Bayer values. More specifically related to this position, Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

      Required Qualifications:

      • M.D., Ph.D., Pharm D. or terminal degree with appropriate health care and/or scientific focus;
      • History of progressive leadership experience in pharmaceutical setting within areas such as medical affairs, commercial and/or market access;
      • Previous experience leading and managing field medical teams, developing medical engagement strategies and implementing scientific exchange initiatives with proven ability to inspire, coach and hold teams accountable;
      • Strong track record of building relationships across external partners such as health care professionals and key opinion leaders, while also fostering strong relationships internally across all functions;
      • Expert knowledge of FDA regulations, ACCME guidelines, PhRMA code and other pharmaceutical codes of conduct;
      • Ability to interpret clinical data and convey complex information through impactful scientific presentations;
      • Visionary leader as demonstrated through previous success in implementing strategies with positive results. Able to create the framework to support high impact outcomes, while removing barriers to enable teams to succeed;
      • Excellent presentation skill to internal and external stakeholders and key decision makers;
      • Willingness to work with hands-on, team approach to perform duties with strong work ethic, attention to detail and outcome-oriented mindset;
      • Proven ability to influence and redirect senior leaders towards mission and objectives;
      • Ability and willingness to travel 30-40% to manage geographically dispersed teams.

      Preferred Qualifications:

      • 10 + years of prior commercial leadership experience with scientific background will be advantageous in this role.
