      Position Overview

      Dutch Bros is looking to add a proven strategic leader with strong business acumen and a passion for working cross-functionally in the business. The VP of Strategy will be responsible for corporate strategy, strategic planning, new business planning, and will be called upon to support the business by facilitating and supporting key corporate initiatives. They will achieve this by understanding key competitive themes and trends, identifying opportunities and solutions, and preparing/synthesizing recommendations to enhance the company’s strategic plan. A natural “Analyst”, the VP of Strategy will possess a solid understanding of capital markets, building business cases, and prioritizing opportunities to enhance our culture and drive our business forward. As the leader of Corporate Strategy for the organization, this individual will work with the Executive team, Business Units, and other relevant Functional Leads to identify key customer, competitive, and market trends. They will develop, oversee, and assess strategic plans and priorities.

      This individual will report to the CEO and is a member of the Executive Leadership team. The ideal candidate must possess exceptional interpersonal skills and be able to lead one-on-one, as well as in larger group settings. They must be capable of handling multiple complex projects simultaneously while coordinating with internal and external resources. This individual will work within a cross-functional matrixed environment which requires leading by influence to accomplish organization-wide goals.

      Key Result Areas (KRAs)

      Develop, implement, oversee, and assess the corporate strategy:

      • Manage the annual Strategic Plan; constantly evaluate the health of company performance to the Plan as initiatives are completed, swapped, or injected

      • Provide thought leadership, quantitative and qualitative analysis, and recommendations

      • Support key strategic priorities and projects in partnership with the CEO and CFO, and work with other functions and stakeholders as required

      • Develop the Business Case methodology – establish a standardized way for leadership to review new business initiatives for prioritization, including but not limited to scorecard/benchmarking of initiatives, assessing project prioritization, and evaluating risk assessments

      • Support the creation and synthesis of materials for presentations for the CEO, the Board, Investors, etc.

      • Work with senior leaders to establish a comprehensive strategic roadmap and implement short and long-term objectives and initiatives to drive business results, and to provide fact-based thought leadership on key strategic and financial decisions

      • Drive business growth through the development of new partnerships and organic expansion

      • Identify trends in the marketplace and monitor the competitive landscape to determine the impact on the organization's product roadmap and uncover opportunities for innovation and growth

      • Manage operationalizing strategy, including capability building, resource allocation, initiative prioritization, and sequencing

      • Lead priority projects for the organization that require significant cross-functional coordination

      Job Qualifications

      • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, Economics, or a similar field, is required; an MBA strongly preferred

      • Minimum of 10 years of progressive and varied experience within corporate strategy, strategy consulting, and business operations, including 5+ years of leadership experience above the individual contributor role

      • 2+ years experience in the multi-unit restaurant/retail industry, required

      • Significant experience in writing and presenting to executive management and BOD

      • A successful track record in evaluating business and/or major capital initiatives that have had a high impact on a high-growth company

      • Visionary, can see the broader landscape and how we might need to invest/adapt to win

      • Enterprise perspective, with the mindset of an owner of the business opportunity to be created

      • Proven ability to analyze, evaluate, and make recommendations on strategic questions

      • Idea generator that drives the discussion on what matters

      • Collaborative work style/leadership presence with the ability to effectively interact with and earn the trust of peers and senior management across the organization

      • Maintains in-depth knowledge of business and competitive landscape
