Lead the strategy, design, implementation, communication, and overall management and administration of broad-based and executive total rewards programs in support of Lurie’s strategy and culture, including developing a clear and compelling and inclusive Total Rewards Philosophy.
Serve as an internal consultant to leadership regarding total rewards considerations in organizational design, succession/leadership transitions, cost efficiencies, and M&A due diligence.
Increase the total rewards knowledge and understanding of people leaders, improving their ability to leverage and communicate rewards to support retention.
Effectively communicate programs to increase employee awareness, understanding and utilization of available offerings.
Ensure programs are cost effective, consistent with market and industry trends, and align with strategic workforce planning goals.
Evolve and align health, financial and retirement benefits and programs to maintain competitiveness, support inclusion, and enhance employee wellbeing.
Lead and conduct pay equity analysis on a regular basis, addressing gaps and ensuring equitable pay practices and outcomes.
Oversee the annual compensation cycle process including budget adherence, pool allocation, equitable review and performance alignment, leader and colleague communication and executive compensation.
Partner with Division Administrators, Physician Group leadership, Legal, and external compensation consultants on FMV analysis and opinion letters for Physician compensation; manage the approval process.
Manage all executive compensation activities, supporting the CPO and the Compensation Committee, including preparing required executive and board level presentations and reports, and participating in meetings as required.
Partner with the Talent Acquisition leader to develop competitive offers rooted in market data while aligning with our compensation philosophy and EVP for new hires and existing employees.
Manage the financial performance of programs, including developing and maintaining reporting dashboards with key metrics to be shared with internal stakeholders.
Consult with external partners and experts to identify trends and best practices to continually bring new ideas and strategies to the compensation, health and wellbeing initiatives.
Increase the effectiveness of current analytics and reporting; analyze data to determine if programs are meeting objectives and recommend improvements where needed.
Oversee the management of vendor relationships, contracts, coordinate with the Finance team on the annual benefits budgeting process.
Stay current on compliance requirements in all relevant areas of responsibility and ensure compliance from a government and regulatory perspective, with adherence to federal, state and local compensation, benefits and tax laws.

Bachelor’s degree required, an MBA, or advanced degree strongly preferred.
Minimum of 15 years of progressive and diverse total rewards experience, plus at least 5 – 7 years’ experience leading a total rewards team. Healthcare experience is a plus.
Comprehensive knowledge of compensation and benefit programs, including executive compensation, and self-insured healthcare models. Recent work experience creating and shaping executive and physician compensation programs within the healthcare industry is a plus.
Outstanding people leadership with the ability to elevate the team and create an environment of inclusion where every voice is heard and valued.
Strong business acumen with a solid understanding of the financial, legal and tax implications of various compensation and benefits alternatives.
Demonstrated ability to deliver flexible, creative total reward strategies that link directly to business needs and retention drivers.
Strong interpersonal skills and a history of successful interaction and influence with all levels of stakeholders including the Compensation Committee of the Board of Directors, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Legal Officer, Physician Leadership and other senior executives.
Ability to collaborate and effectively quickly form effective and trusting relationships across the organization.
Exceptional integrity and judgment, as well as discretion and confidentiality in dealing with sensitive information and situations.
Results-oriented and timely, with a demonstrated sense of urgency and an ability to deliver results.
Proven ability to handle complex and sometimes ambiguous issues/situations with multiple stakeholders at every level of the organization.
Excellent communication skills, including the ability to develop board level presentations/ materials.
Strong organization, analytical, and strategic thinking skills, along with excellent critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills.
Working knowledge of HRIS platforms (Workday preferred).

Overview
The Vice President, Total Rewards will provide strategic leadership and insights to take the organization’s total rewards offerings to the next level. With responsibility for developing and implementing strategies to enhance the total rewards experience of all Lurie Children’s employees, this role will drive the overall strategy, design, implementation and communication of the company’s programs in the areas of Compensation, Benefits, Employee Health and Wellbeing.
Through fostering leading practices and driving operational excellence in all aspects of total rewards, the VP plays a pivotal role in our ability to attract and retain the best talent and be an employer of choice. Key responsibilities include ensuring that all total rewards programs are understood and valued by our employees, support Lurie Children’s culture, and are competitive, cost-effective, properly administered and legally compliant.
As a member of the People Leadership Team, the role reports to the Chief People Officer. A highly visible position, the VP will regularly work with C-suite executives and provide recommendations and expert advice to members of the Compensation Committee of the Board of Directors. The VP will also collaborate with Physician Division Administrators and People team peers to ensure seamless integration in the administration and communication of programs to maximize the productivity, engagement and retention of our employees.
