      Job Description:

      A VIE for a Technology Scouting Junior (f/m) has arisen within Airbus Commercial Aircraft (Airbus America) in Washington DC (HQ Herndon) - 18 months.

      The Volunteer for International Experience (VIE) is a unique international program sponsored by the French Ministry of Economy, Finance and Employment, open to Airbus to offer young professionals the opportunity to have valuable paid work experience

      abroad in a technical or business function.

      The VIE is a specific contract, under Business France’s eligibility criteria.

      VIE main requirements:

      • European Union citizens (plus Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Monaco), graduates up to and including 28 years old

      • Have fulfilled military obligations for their country, if any

      The contract duration of VIE is between 6 to 24 months.

      You will join InnovationX, the Airbus Global Technology Scouting team.

      Airbus Innovation Ecosystem is a global network of out-of-box thinkers who co-innovate with internal and external partners to deliver new services and products, support new ways of working within the company, and increase Airbus’ competitiveness over the long term. Today, our Innovation Ecosystem spans five continents, from the Americas and Europe to Asia, the Middle East and Africa.

      Global technology scouting team is part of Disruptive R&T and is responsible for identifying the technology trends that will impact our products portfolio group wide, short, mid and long term (examples: autonomy, connectivity, artificial intelligence, electrification).

      At InnovationX our mission is to:

      • Explore Technology trends across geographies to support Airbus future challenges while detecting the right Startups, SME (small and medium-sized enterprises), Companies to partner with.

      • Understand what is the essence of the needs of our Company that could be addressed to the startup world with the objective to speedup the solution making and generating positive impact for Airbus

      • Anticipate the trends that could disrupt the future of the aerospace industry and evaluate them to identify and incubate potential new business

      • Support and guide the innovation internal and external ecosystem in its development with the objective to increase the impact (Value, ROI…) and visibility of Airbus as an innovative & sustainable company.

      • Develop and ensure the innovation strategy across the divisions with the support from the right stakeholders.

      Your challenge is to facilitate and leverage technology scouting and Intelligence by gathering and evaluating information in the field of science and technology against either a pull from defined scouting needs or providing a push from external opportunities.

      Countries to cover: USA, Canada.

      Your main tasks will include:

      • Management of a clustered portfolio of technologies

      • Ensure clear and robust definition of needs agreed with internal stakeholder

      • Identify partners with relevant capabilities with the support of subject experts

      • Ensure network and strong relationships with key research institutions and all relevant key players in the technical domain

      • Prepare reports addressing scouting and customer needs, and prepare technology trends reports

      • Facilitate projects initiation, monitoring, and closure in coordination with internal customers and R&T Support

      • Comply with Airbus America management policies

      Your boarding pass:

      • Advanced Degree in Aerospace/Engineering background

      • Minimum 3 years of professional experience

      • Technical interests in AI, battery tech, connectivity, autonomy,...

      • Passion for new technologies and technical acumen to evaluate their relevance

      • Knowledge of the Airbus company, its products, services, and operations

      • Awareness of Airbus business and technology priorities

      • Knowledge of Airbus R&T and Innovation ecosystem

      • A strong negotiation level of english is mandatory for this position based in the US (daily use with a large variety of fluent english spoken stakeholders)

      In addition you are capable to demonstrate the following skills:

      • Ability to develop trust and open relationships with internal stakeholders and external Partners

      • Ability to work via influence, rather than authority

      • Ability to work with minimal supervision and in fuzzy environment

      • Cultural sensitivity to operate successfully in fast paced global environment

      This role will involve some travel for business in California, Canada and Europe and as such you must be able to travel accordingly.
