P rovid ing training in subject protocol-defined safety parameters and toxicity management to internal and external study team members during protocol development and study start-up.
S ynthesiz ing and present ing clinical information from the trial, co-ordinating w ith safety and pharmacokinetic representatives, and provid ing evaluations to internal governance groups.
Guiding collaborators, site investigators and other study support staff on protocol-related medical issues .
P hysician students and scientists who are completing or have recently completed post-graduate medical training (Medical Degree or e quivalent) specializing in HIV or Infectious Diseases .
3+ years internal medicine residency
2+ years of infectious disease fellowship
P roven or growing scientific and clinical capability.
Clinical research or bench research ; could be during training.
Publications or presentations at a scientific conference.
Demonstrated leadership.
H igh levels of innovation, creativity, and the ability to solve complex problems.
Excitement about continuing with ViiV at the end of this early talent program, working towards a leadership role .

ViiV Healthcare was created as a joint venture by Pfizer and GlaxoSmithKline in November 2009 with both companies transferring their HIV assets to the new company. In 2012 Shionogi joined the company. 76.5% of the company is now owned by GlaxoSmithKline, 13.5% by Pfizer and 10% by Shionogi.
ViiV’s Scientific Leadership Program is designed to develop the next generation of physician scientific leaders, to help us further our impact on people living with HIV across the world. In this 2-3-year , US-based p rogram, you will contribute to our ViiV goal of leaving no person living with HIV behind while gaining broad experience of drug development, through 9–12-month , immersive , rotational assignments in different areas of our organisation , including pharmaceutical R&D and Medical Affairs . Each assignment will involve meaningful projects and collaborative interactions to develop your personal and professional growth, business and leadership acumen and technical expertise . Core to the program are intentional learning , training, mentorship and coaching designed to build both your scientific and leadership capability , and lay the foundations for a successful career with us in ViiV R&D .
What will you do?
We’re seeking p hysician students and scientists who are completing or have recently completed post-graduate medical training (Medical Degree or equivalent) specializing in HIV or Infectious Diseases .
During R&D rotations , you will help deliver the function’s vision dedicated to delivering innovative HIV medicines, leaving no patients behind. You will learn and work as a medical monitor on clinical studies , providing m edical leadership of Phase 1-4 protocols , . Other accountabilities will include:
During rotations in Medical Affairs , you will be working in Global Medical Affairs (GMA) or North American Medical Affairs (NAMA) in ViiV as a Medical Advisor (MA). GMA is re s ponsible for establishing global medical and scientific strategic direction, short and long-term goals and leadership for the overall planning and delivery of the integrated medical affairs plans for our HIV therapies. NAMA is responsib le for global medical affairs activities/initiatives, and management of stakeholders internal ly (Medical, Sales, Marketing, ViiV Local Operating Companies ) and external ly (healthcare professionals, advocacy groups, partner organizations, and HIV patients). Activities include Global Medical Strategy and Business Planning, Data Generation and Dissemination, Insights Generation, and Medical Education.
Your p rofessional development as a physician and a matrix leader is our priority . You will join scientists on GSK’s SLP program on our specially designed learning program, as well as continuous professional development, on-the job learning, Infectious Diseases' board certification & course and conference attendance.
