  About the role

  As Virtualization Engineer you will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, availability, and performance of our critical IT infrastructure systems.

  You will be responsible to:

  • Design and implement VMware vSphere virtualization solutions, including server consolidation, high availability, and disaster recovery
  • Configure and maintain VMware ESXi hosts, vCenter Server, NSX appliances and other VMware components
  • Monitor virtual infrastructure performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimization strategies to ensure optimal resource utilization
  • Implement and maintain security measures for virtualized environments, including access controls, network segmentation (NSX), and VM isolation
  • Create and maintain documentation related to virtualization configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides
  • Develop Scripts using Bash / PowerShell / Ruby / Python as a critical skill to continuously update and effectively monitor system stability and usability.
  • Define baseline for physical server hardware infrastructure (HP servers preferred)
  • Implement continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for infrastructure changes.

  About the Team

  Our team provides IT services to internal customers within Swiss Re. The Infrastructure Team consists of software developers, systems and information engineers. We provide high quality infrastructure services and ensure smooth operation of critical platforms and business solutions. We work in multi-functional, agile teams on delivering IT solutions in close collaboration with customers and platform owners.

  About You

  • Experience as a VMware Engineer or similar role, with expertise in designing and managing VMware vSphere environments
  • Solid environment and configuration management skills; ability to maintain multiple baselines, e.g. Dev, Test, Prod Development experience with at least one infrastructure automation tool such as Terraform, Puppet, Ansible
  • Experience with programming languages (E.g. PowerShell, Bash, and preferably Python, Java, Ruby, Go).
  • Familiar with VMware NSX for network virtualization and security
  • Certified in VMware Certified Associate (VCA) or VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or Certified Design Expert (VCDX) or equivalent experience

  Nice to have

  • Know-how of backup and disaster recovery methodologies for virtualized environments (preferably Commvault)
  • Experience in working with large amount of unstructured data (CIFS/NFS/S3/DFS)

  For Slovakia the base salary range for this position is between [EUR 2,700] and [EUR 4,500] per month (for a full-time role). The specific salary offered considers:

  • the requirements, scope, complexity and responsibilities of the role,
  • the applicant’s own profile including education/qualifications, expertise, specialisation, skills and experience.

  In addition to your base salary, you may be eligible for additional rewards and benefits including an attractive performance-based bonus.
