      Department: School of Graduate and Professional Studies

      Reports To: Academic Program Director, Counseling Program

      Work Hours: 35 hours

      Status: Full-time; 4-Month (renewable)

      SUMMARY

      The Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP), a specialized accrediting body recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), has granted accreditation to the following programs in Rosemont College's School of Graduate and Professional Studies: Clinical Mental Health Counseling (MA degree) offered at both Rosemont College in Rosemont, PA, and partner institution Cedar Crest College in Allentown, PA, and School Counseling (MA degree) at Rosemont College in Rosemont, PA. The CACREP Board of Directors met in July 2021 and awarded accreditation to these counseling programs through October 2029.

      Rosemont College seeks a Visiting Faculty Member for our Master of Arts in our Graduate Counseling Program for Fall 2025. Primary responsibilities for the position include graduate-level instruction of coursework (up to a 4-Course Load) with flexibility to facilitate classrooms at our two campuses: Rosemont Main Campus (Bryn Mawr, PA) and Cedar Crest College Campus (Allentown, PA). Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, academic and/or career support to students transitioning to the world of work, syllabus construction and revision, and committee membership in support of the program. The position works collaboratively with members of the School of Graduate and Professional Studies (SGPS) and regularly communicates with the Academic Program Director of the Graduate Counseling Program. Additional overload duties are available during summer classes.

      SPECIFIC DUTIES INCLUDE*

      • Teach up to twelve credit hours (up to 4-courses) during the combined Summer I and Summer II sessions. Fall, Spring semesters.
      • Maintain appropriate licensure and credentialing within area(s) of expertise related to the counseling profession.
      • Function as a member of the Admissions Committee to select prospective applicants for enrollment.
      • Serve as a member of the June Carol Memorial Fund Committee.
      • Submit academic and professional scores for each student at the conclusion of each semester session.
      • Suggest feedback on course structure in alignment with CACREP national accreditation standards.
      • Submit updated course syllabi each session for each course taught.
      • Complete embedded course assessment and/or program assessment.
      • Serve on appropriate institutional governing bodies and committees.
      • Provide career and academic support and advising to students enrolled in the program.
      • Participate in monthly department meetings for programmatic updates and information.
      • Attend and participate in meetings, seminars, forums, lectures, information sessions, and other events to contribute to the growth and vitality of the program.
      • Assist in the development of protocols to attract, enroll, and retain a diverse group of students.
      • Collaborate with the Program Director in the development of co-curricular activities that support the mission of the institution and provide growth opportunities for students and fellow faculty members.
      • Provide weekly office hours to the student body (1-hour per week for each course).
      • Regularly communicate with the Program Director of the Graduate Counseling Program.
      • Consult with the Counseling Center as requested by the Rosemont Counseling Center Director.
      • Work collegially with SGPS staff; serve on the SGPS council.
      • Evaluate policies and practices within the program.
      • Operate within the limits of the budgeted expenditures.
      • Undertake additional duties as requested by the Graduate Counseling Program Director.

      QUALIFICATIONS

      Minimum Qualifications:

      • Earned doctoral degree in Counselor Education & Supervision (preferably from a CACREP-accredited program) or full-time teaching experience as a counselor educator at the graduate level prior to 2013 (in accordance with CACREP core faculty requirements).
      • Licensure in professional counseling or license eligibility in Pennsylvania (preferred).
      • Nationally Certified Counselor credentialing through the NBCC (preferred).
      • Candidates with experience teaching in non-traditional formats (blended and online courses).
      • Membership in professional counseling organizations (ACA, AMHCA, ACES)
      • Familiarity with regional practitioners and related industry organizations.
      • Relevant training in counseling supervision.
      • Demonstrated success with increased responsibilities within an educational setting.

      Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

      • Knowledge of the Pennsylvania professional counselor license processes (LPC).
      • Knowledge of CACREP accreditation standards.
      • Knowledge of the program’s expectations, requirements, and evaluation procedures for students.
      • Excellent oral communication skills; ability to speak comfortably to large groups.
      • Experience with adult learners with in-depth understanding of adult learning theory and practice.
      • Excellent writing skills for higher education communications.
      • Approaches work from a problem-solving mode with high quality customer service aptitude.
      • Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to carry out daily responsibilities with minimal supervision.
      • Proficiency with personal computer, data, document, and academic records management (Office, Iway, Canvas LMS).
      • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with individuals and teams from other units within Rosemont.
      • Accepts the need for ongoing program evaluation and continuous quality improvements.
      • Available to work flexible hours.
