Sydney Local Health District (SLHD) is seeking an experienced Visiting Medical Officer to join our team at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital
We are looking for a Visiting Medical Officer in Neurosurgery!The primary purpose of the role is to provide high quality diagnostic and consultative specialty services in Neurosurgery and to participate in teaching, research, quality improvement and administrative activities within the Neurosurgery Department and Hospital as required.
The Visiting Medical Officer role will require advanced training in spinal surgery and experience with sacral resection for benign and malignant pathologies including as part of a multidisciplinary team. As well as experience with resections for epilepsy and placements of stereotactic, electroencephalogram (EEG) leads to assist with planning epilepsy surgery.
The Visiting Medical Officer will ensure a high standard of professional performance and encouragement of an academic environment which supports education, research and professional development.The successful applicant will be registered, or eligible for registration, with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), and Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) with recognised qualifications in Neurosurgery and/or other equivalent specialist recognition.Salary and conditions are in accordance with the NSW Public Hospitals Visiting Medical Officer Determination.
All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). Additionally, Category A workers are required to receive a booster dose three months after completing the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations. New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate (IM011 immunisation medical exemption form) certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.
Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.
