Provide exceptional guest services to CMNH guests.
Effectively communicate with both guests and Museum colleagues.
Set up ticketing stations and kiosks, and ensure the Museum is prepared each morning to open to the public.
Observe individuals entering and leaving the Museum and provide a high level of customer service, proactively anticipating and addressing their needs.
Inform guests of all events and programs happening at the Museum and assist them with acquiring tickets or getting more detailed information.
Help sign in visitors arriving and check in groups, processing payments in accordance with established Museum procedures.
Responsible for the sale of admission, planetarium, and special event tickets to the General Public.
Responsible for the sale of Museum memberships.
Answer the museum’s email inbox and phone system promptly, answer inquiries courteously, and direct callers to the appropriate staff offices and individuals needed.
Assist other Visitor Experience Associates as needed.
Work closely with volunteers, docents, and fellow CMNH staff.
Ensure all Visitor Experience areas are kept clean, organized, and well stocked.
Report any emergencies, irregularities, and safety concerns or facilities work orders to Operations.
Demonstrate the best cyber security, personal information, credit card, and cash handling practices.
Perform other related duties as required.
High school diploma or GED.
Prior customer service experience.
A passion for science, nature, and conservation.
Ability to work collaboratively across various departments and CMNH colleagues.
Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse audience, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to take initiative, learn new skills, and work independently without continuous supervision.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, flexible, and able to multitask.
Pleasant demeanor, positive attitude, and comfortable interacting with staff and visitors.
Ability to exercise initiative and good judgment in anticipating problems before they arise.
Ability to be an outstanding ambassador of the Museum.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, which may include evenings and weekends.
Ability to stand for several hours.

Visitor Experience Associate - PART-TIME
The Cleveland Museum of Natural History (CMNH), founded in 1920, is located in the heart of University Circle, five miles east of downtown Cleveland, Ohio. Considered one of the finest institutions of its kind in North America, the Museum offers an incredible visitor experience, attracting roughly 275,000 visitors a year. There are more than 140 public education programs and over 80,000 students served annually. The Museum employs about 115 people. Building on its strong foundation of excellence in education and research, the Museum is poised to transform itself. The Museum will invite and engage a broader audience in the exploration of science and the natural world by revolutionizing the way it presents natural history. The Museum has currently launched a capital campaign to support a dramatic renovation and expansion of its facilities and exhibits. This ambitious plan will position the Museum to play a leading role in regional and national efforts to improve science education and increase scientific literacy.

The Visitor Experience Associate will provide the highest quality guest experience to all visitors, donors, and members of the Museum. They are responsible for communicating our admissions policies, assisting visitors purchasing tickets, and fostering a sense of discovery and excitement about their visit while proactively observing our visitor’s needs.

Work Schedule:
Two to Three 8-hour shifts per week (or no more than 30 hours per week) for part-time, and Five 8-hour shifts per week (or a weekly schedule of 30 to 40 hours) for full-time, between 9 am and 5 pm. Saturdays and Sundays are mandatory, and occasional evenings for special events.
