      The Senate Sergeant at Arms is seeking a Visual Information Specialist.       Duties


      Plans, documents, and edits web video (non-broadcast) productions for a variety of projects and special events not in a studio setting. Communicates information through visual methodologies, primarily with videography, photography, multimedia, and photo printing. Conceptualizes and captures imagery using various photographic methods, standards, and equipment as an Official Senate Photographer. Prints high quality photos, ensuring timely delivery of materials. Assesses color, audio, and effects in digital imagery assets by applying principles of color theory and other techniques to enhance visual appeal and relevancy. Employs skilled batch imagery processing and metadata ingesting techniques. Generates on location web video and photography; to present subject matter information in a visual form that conveys the intended message through audio/video and captioning to the target audience. Other duties as assigned.

      • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with colleagues, supervisors, and clients.

      Required Work Experience

      • Five (5) to seven (7) years of experience working with photography and videography

      Required Special Skills/ Knowledge

      • Ability to embed captioning into video files for distribution.
      • Utilizes diverse photography techniques (e.g., photojournalism, studio portraiture) for high-profile events, private functions, and public officials.
      • Adaptable in high-pressure situations and well-versed in executive-level protocol.
      • Ability to retouch imagery and intricate composites, suitable for official portraits for government officials and historical archives.
      • Technical acumen to be able to operate, configure, and fix video, audio, lighting, or other production equipment.
      • Demonstrated skill with the Adobe Creative Suite, Premiere, Lightroom, Photo Mechanic, and Microsoft Office suite, on PC and Apple platforms.
      • Multitasking skills for working with many crew members at once.
      • Creative thinking with an excellent eye for detail.
      • Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaborating with clients and members of the production team.
      • Physical ability to move and hold recording equipment for long periods.
      • Understanding of computer software used for planning, editing, and scripting.
      • Organization to manage their time efficiently.
      • Knowledge of photographic principles including composition and technical techniques.
      • Manual dexterity, physical mobility, and some physical strength/stamina is required.

      Desired Qualifications

      • Image portfolio website and reel with video production examples.
      • Knowledge of and experience with mirrorless cameras, video and audio equipment and editing software (Adobe suite) to capture and produce short-form video products.
      • Knowledge of and experience with strobes and continues lighting for both still photography and video.
      • Knowledge of still and video image post-processing for culling, color correction, editing and accurate metadata.
      • Prioritizes requests appropriately and manages daily workflow effectively and accurately.
      • Solves problems in the moment, diplomatically handles challenging and sensitive situations.
      • Self-motivated with effective problem-solving skills and a high attention to detail.

      Working Conditions

      • Schedule fluctuates and is expected to work early mornings, late evenings and weekends, with little to no notice.
      • Moderate (carrying of items less than 50 pounds); Work requires employee to be outdoors in a variety of weather conditions; Work requires frequent physical effort walking, bending, crawling, standing for long durations; Working on ladders, scaffolding, or stages; Working in confined spaces (bending and crawling).
