Job Description

- Position requires an in-depth understanding of VMware technologies, including vSphere/ESX, VMware View, vCenter, Site Recovery Manager, , running in enterprise environments
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP and network topologies
- Manage Active Directory group, user and computer objects, the AD Schema
- Troubleshooting ESX issues related to storage, network and performance issues
- Load and deploy new servers
- Create and maintain Windows server images
- Work with engineers and project leads to implement new systems, policies, standards and practices
- Document server administration processes and procedures
- Monitor and tune systems to achieve optimum performance levels
- Assist with security and configuration compliance, performance, capacity, hardening, software and patch management of VMware Infrastructure.
- Provide assistance with VMware infrastructure deployment, configuration, integration and remediation.
- Assist in day-to-day operations, including investigation and remedy of faults in relation to customer’s VMware virtual environment.
- Provide assistance in meeting customer’s Operational Requirements and working in Consultation with stakeholders and line management.
- Engage with relevant stakeholders in documentation development and support procedures.
- In depth technical knowledge of virtualisation technologies including VMware
- In depth experience with environment transformation techniques including VMware upgrade, mitigation of environment technical debt.
- In depth experience with consulting on technical solution design and scoping for project initiatives.
- Mentoring less senior team members, breaking complex activities down to less complex components in or for less experienced team members to implement.
- Display a high level experience across hands-on engineering roles

Your New Role
The VMware Senior System Support Engineer is required to oversee the management of the VMware virtual environment as per the direction from the technical lead and manager.
The Senior System Support Engineer will be working within a team of highly technical and self-driven individuals that are all working towards a common goal. The Senior System Support Engineer will assist various projects such as exchange upgrades, datacentre relocation, various cloud enhancements and implementation projects. Mentoring junior team members will also be part of the role. Mentoring through BAU support with high level escalations, training our junior team members to address difficult operation requests.
