- Manages, schedules, and recruits volunteers for the National Ability Center’s recreation programs, with a strong emphasis on Ski & Snowboard programs during the winter.
- Leads volunteer portions of trainings and arranges for further training when needed.
- Trains and coordinates with program staff on volunteer procedures.
- Coordinates teams of volunteers for a large-scale projects and events throughout the year.
- Communicates frequently with volunteers to ensure they are satisfied, well-placed, and receive feedback when needed.
- Communicates frequently with staff and volunteer team to ensure transparency of needs and work through any ideas or changes that need to be implemented.
- Maintains detailed records of volunteers’ information, assignments and required paperwork through Salesforce and Hands-On-Connect platforms.
- Evaluates programs and staff on their engagement of volunteers on a regular basis.
- Supports the development of department annual goals, establishes priorities, provides resources, support, and regular feedback for volunteer development; sets performance expectations, provides coaching for volunteers, and administers disciplinary action as needed.
- Assists with key fundraising events and other special events as needed to help advance program goals and support; serves as an ambassador and representative for the National Ability Center.
- Other duties as assigned.
- 1 year of experience coordinating volunteers (or equivalent experience).
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Pass pre-employment background check.
- Intermediate level in skiing or snowboarding to facilitate volunteer training sessions during the winter for the Ski & Snowboard program.
- Experience working with MS Office, Sales Force and/or HandsOn Connect software.
- Previous experience working with people with disabilities.
- Experience in many of the recreation programs we offer to facilitate volunteer training sessions.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills along with the ability to communicate effectively and connect with participants and their families.
- Excellent facilitation, group management, and team coordination abilities.
- Demonstrated history of responsibility, dependability, and maturity.
- Outstanding organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional organizational skills with strong emphasis on attention-to-detail.
- Strong work ethic and an entrepreneurial spirit to accommodate multiple responsibilities and shifting priorities in a quick-paced environment.
- Ability to prioritize work effectively and efficiently under pressure.

- Ability to work in an office setting and outside in various weather conditions, including extreme weather.
- Available and willing to work a non-traditional schedule that may include evenings, weekends, and holidays, especially as needed for projects and special events.
- Ability to lift and maneuver equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. while supporting set up for events or supporting on volunteer trainings.

Compensation: Starting at $20.00/hour

Job Summary: The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the coordination, scheduling, and training of volunteers on each recreation program that the NAC offers. The person in this role works closely with the volunteer team to create a positive experience for all volunteers as they effectively support the mission of the NAC. This position is a full-time, year-round, in-person position with benefits, and it requires regular weekend and occasional after-hours work for special events and holidays, as needed.
