      Position Summary:

      We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Vice President (VP) Global Commercial Insights & Analytics to join our growing Commercial Leadership team. The Vice President, Global Commercial Insights & Analytics is a highly visible executive leader in the Dexcom Commercial organization, and critical strategic partner with the Finance and Corporate Strategy Functions. This role is responsible for delivering industry-leading insights to executive leaders to drive market and business insights, deliver strategic and operational competitive advantage, deliver and accelerate near-term results, and drive long range planning. This leader will report to the Chief Commercial Officer, and have direct responsibility for the following areas: global market analytics; market and competitive intelligence; global forecasting, business case development, including business case development for additions, changes, and prioritization of the company portfolio; sales enablement and analytics. This leader will also have dotted line accountability for market research. This is a newly created role. The ideal candidate will bring holistic business insight and business acumen to build this critical capability for Dexcom.

      Key Responsibilities Include:

      • Shape, develop, and lead the new Global Commercial Analytics and Insights team comprised of the following functions:

        • Forecasting and Valuation, including development and maintenance of a global market model, market opportunity sizing, business case development for novel products programs and portfolio decisions, and leadership of long range plan (LRP) market and commercial forecasts.

        • Market and Competitive Intelligence, including holistic up-to-date view on market events, implications; daily market summary (together with Communications team); including discernment of business implication of market events and trends for other functions.

        • Global Sales Enablement and Analytics, including:

          • reporting and analysis of sales and share results

          • field force effectiveness measure, compensation design assessment, and optimization, sales and share reporting and evaluation

          • insights development to drive continued evolution and improvements in sales and go-to-market model approaches

          • note – the Global Sales Operations and Analytics function will report directly to the VP, Global Commercial Insights & Analytics, and will have dotted line accountability to the EVP, Global Revenue

      • Develop, implement, and inspire team with a Global Commercial Insights & Analytics Vision and resulting outcomes benefits for Dexcom.

      • Lead the development of market sizing and forecasting models to inform the company's strategic planning and resource allocation decisions.

      • Conduct deep-dive analysis of sales data and customer feedback to identify key drivers of performance, opportunities for growth, and areas for improvement.

      • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including marketing, sales, and product development, to develop and execute strategic initiatives that drive business results.

      • Develop and present insights and recommendations to executive management and other stakeholders, including market assessments, competitive analyses, and customer insights.

      • Monitor and track market trends and developments, including competitive activities, regulatory changes, and industry events, to inform strategic decision making.

      • Together with EVP Marketing, develop and execute a comprehensive market research plan to understand the competitive landscape, customer needs and preferences, and market trends and dynamics, leveraging novel and fit-for-purpose market research and insights techniques and tools.

      • Establish and strengthen organizational capabilities and agility in developing robust, data-driven, forecasts and business cases for life-cycle plans and new business opportunities.

      • Manage and develop a team of market insights and analytics professionals, providing coaching and mentorship to build skills and capabilities.

      • Work to develop and implement tools and insights that provide greater efficiency and efficacy to the global commercial organization, delivering clarity and acceleration to the long-term portfolio and pipeline, as well as accelerate sales growth in the near term.

      • Assess and optimize the analytics and data assets and tools needed for maximum business impact (for example, but not limited to, syndicated and proprietary data sets; software packages and tools, including but not limited to CRM, Sales Reporting, Data warehousing, and advanced analytics software).

      • Work closely with finance to align/synchronize commercial data, insights, and forecasts with internal and publicly-reported financial results and forecasts.

      • Support senior leadership with analytics that help drive overall strategic direction of commercial organization.

      • Execute reviews of all associated processes and performance reports to ensure that the highest quality for sales reporting.

      • Work cross functionally to ensure functional priorities align with corporate priorities.

      • Partner closely with Finance/Global Pricing, EVP Global Marketing, and VP Global Market Access functions to ensure robust, value-based pricing strategies are developed and managed with discipline.

      • Attract, develop, and inspire top analytics talent, establishing a strong internal and external talent pipeline.

      • Responsible for ensuring that department understands and complies with quality standards and requirements as documented.

      In addition, the ideal candidate should bring the following function-specific capabilities and experiences:

      • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, statistics, or related field. Advanced degree preferred

      • 20 years of experience in finance, analytics, strategic consulting, business intelligence, or related field, with a proven track record of driving commercial success through data-driven insights

      • 15+ years of successful leadership experience in relevant industry

      • Proven track record in finance, analytics, and/or insights strategy and leadership

      • Exceptional quantitative and qualitative analytics capabilities, and demonstrated track record of applying analytics and insights to solve business problems

      • Strong leadership skills with experience managing and developing teams of analytics professionals

      • Experience with, and a strong framework for evaluating the dynamic universe of software and technology tools for data management and analytics, and ability to recommend and maximize return on investment from such tools and technologies

      • Excellent intellectual bandwidth, and proven ability to understand and clearly prioritize a broad range of analytics and insights requests from across the Commercial organization

      • Strong business acumen with a deep understanding of the healthcare or medical technology industry and relevant markets

      • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex data and insights to a variety of audiences

      • Proven ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to drive business results

      • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively under tight deadlines

      Location and Travel Required:

      • The position is based in San Diego, CA, with global responsibilities, and requires at least 25% travel, depending on candidate’s home location. Dexcom supports remote work for employees. At the same time, this pivotal leadership role must have the ability to be present in San Diego offices at least 25% of the time, and travel as needed to customer-facing and internal meetings worldwide.
