      Vice President – Employee Relations

      Fulltime

      Derby/Bristol/Solihull/London/UK/Hybrid

      An exciting opportunity has arisen for a VP – Employee Relations to join the Employee Relations team, based in Derby.

      As VP – Employee Relations, you will work with senior leaders, people leaders and Employee Representatives to develop and drive a strategic partnership to execute business strategy. This will be achieved via relationship management, a structured approach to project planning, a consultative approach to engagement and an engaging communication style that will enable you to deliver the right tone/message to the appropriate groups and individuals.

      Your needs are as unique as you are. Hybrid working is a way in which our people can balance their time between the office, home, or another remote location. It’s a locally managed and flexed informal discretionary arrangement. As a minimum we’re all expected to attend the workplace for collaboration and other specific reasons, on average three days per week.

      What you will be doing

      With this attractive opportunity, you will get a chance to:

      • Develop and maintain a strategic partnership with our Trade Union and employee representatives. Fostering constructive dialogue and collaboration to align workforce needs with organisational goals.
      • Provide business focused, pragmatic workplace practice solutions to improve productivity, lead the programme of activity on standardisation and the creation of the right environment for a diverse and inclusive workplace in a transforming organisation.
      • Maintain awareness of employee relations/industrial relations good practice, benchmark the best in the region and align the Company’s approach and solutions to match and exceed that standard.
      • Provide specialist advice on complex change activities requiring collective engagement and liaise with the relevant legal representatives to ensure that risk is always kept to a minimum.
      • Advise and support any statutory consultation relationships which enable good employee relations and/or legal compliance.
      • Work closely with the Senior leaders across the UK to forecast and address requirements, upcoming issues within respective client group(s).
      • Lead collective negotiations, consultations and dispute resolution activities as appropriate.
      • Act as a specialist centre of employee relations excellence for all the businesses in the UK.

      • Strong relationship and influencing skills with credibility across the function, within the organisation and externally with relevant bodies.
      • Ability to provide support on multiple change activities and to understand the impact of ER on the wider HR and business change agenda and to operate with a pragmatic, commercial and results orientated approach.
      • Strong experience of operating on the front line of trade union relations, a history and track record of negotiations, successfully leading change within a unionised environment and drive and ability to move the business forward. Relationship building, consultative and advisory skills will be complimented with awareness of HR generalist issues.
      • Pragmatic approach that always keeps the organisation's best interests at the forefront of the decision-making process and an ability to operate independently and work collaboratively within a global team.
      • An up-to-date understanding of all elements of UK employee relations
      • A proven ability in successfully holding difficult conversations and delivering sensitive messages to employees at all levels is essential.
