Data Strategy Development: Develops Enterprise-wide approach to prioritize Data efforts based on shared view of potential value for the business. Provides forward-looking view of data and analytics opportunities, incorporating external perspective; creates alignment on integrated roadmap; develops value proposition for data and analytics investments.
Strategic Planning: Develop and execute a data strategy that supports the organization’s short-term and long-term goals, driving innovation and data-driven decision-making. Leverage enterprise funding to accelerate projects which deliver cross-functional value; Optimize D&A spend across Amgen.
Data Governance and stewardship: Implement data governance and stewardship frameworks that maintain data integrity, privacy, and compliance with regulatory standards. Coordinates data decisions across functions ( data acquisitions); establishes rules of engagement (coordinate with control functions) in alignment with our internal governance framework.
Integration of Advanced Technologies: Explore and integrate advanced data and analytics technologies and platforms that can provide a competitive edge as the foundation for AI model training, optimization, and operation.
Data Management: Oversee the aggregation, transformation, characterization, management, and analytical readiness of data from various sources, ensuring high data quality and accessibility for stakeholders. Develop and implement enterprise master data strategies.
Technical Data Architecture Design: Develop a state-of-the-art technology data architecture that supports the organization's vision for the future, including rapid data processing and advanced analytics capabilities, working in partnership with the broader ATMOS organization.
Data Acquisition: Identify opportunities for data acquisition to advance our AI efforts.
24/7 Operations: Ownership and Accountability for existing Enterprise and functional regulated and non-regulated data platforms requiring 24/7 operational support ensuring business continuity.
Leading Teams: Inspire and lead an engaged team to deliver results. Attract, retain, and develop top talent, creating a culture of innovation and a strong pipeline of future leaders. Support key talent initiatives, including diversity, inclusion, and belonging programs, along with talent development and internship opportunities.
Cross-functional Leadership: Collaborate with different departments to align data strategies with business objectives and lead cross-functional teams in executing data initiatives.
Leadership Engagement: Create shared senior leadership data acumen and develop capabilities and resources across Amgen to maximize business value and enable Amgen to reach more patients.
Doctorate degree & 8 years of data management experience OR
Master’s degree & 10 years of data management experience OR
Bachelor’s degree & 12 years of data management experience AND
8 years of direct managerial experience. Previous experience managing other managers
Experience designing and implementing complex data and analytical systems within a large organization.
Leadership skills with the ability to inspire and manage a global data management team.
Experience with modern data platforms and related processes and technology (e.g., Data Lakes, Data Fabrics, ETL processes)
Knowledge of data governance practices and familiarity with data privacy and compliance regulations.
Analytical and strategic thinking skills, with an ability to translate business needs into data solutions.
Executive communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with various stakeholders.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, Data Science, Information

In this vital role the leader of Enterprise Data will be responsible for developing and leading the strategic data and analytics roadmap, design and implementation of key data and analytics capabilities, and operations support that drives value across the enterprise. This is a senior role that will interact with key business functions to prioritize, accelerate and execute on foundational data strategies. Enable Amgen to reach its 2031 ambition by harnessing the power of data. Deliver a foundational enterprise operating and data management model that supports the business to make insightful, fast, impactful decisions.
This leader will develop and implement an Enterprise operating model that standardizes data/analytics practices, unlocks additional business insight and value, and develops and deploys dedicated Amgen resources in a more efficient, cross-functional manner to capitalize on past learnings/experiences while exploring and leveraging new innovative opportunities. Design and implementation of our specialized data foundation to fuel leading edge advanced business analytics and emerging AI models.
This strategic role involves overseeing the architecture of our data systems, as well as managing the collection, transformation, aggregation, and governance of data across the organization. You will be at the forefront of ensuring that our data infrastructure is not only robust and scalable but also integrates seamlessly with cutting-edge technologies, in line with those developed by industry leaders like NVIDIA, AWS, and Microsoft.

The annual base salary range for Vice President opportunities in the U.S. is $307,500 - $512,500.
