- Leads local government and external affairs activity for all communities and states in their assigned area(s).
- Collaborates with senior management and Federal and State Government Affairs personnel to develop and implement strategies that shape public policy regarding proposed legislative and regulatory initiatives.
- Monitors local business environment and legislative, regulatory, and public policy activities affecting Company and relevant industries. Coordinates and leads lobbying activity, as needed. Oversees programming related to corporate initiatives and community affairs activities.
- Collaborates on strategic direction and overall guidelines for broadband deployment, including community engagement, RFPs, compliance requirements and securing necessary agreements to operate, including but not limited to cable franchises, easements and right of ways.
- Develops and maintains relationships with government representatives and regulators at the federal, state, and local level. Travels to attend meetings, hearings, or other events to represent the company.
- Drafts, analyzes and/or presents legislation, ordinances, amendments, and testimony as necessary.
- Provides leadership and supervision to the government and external affairs professional teams, including budget, performance management and strategic priorities.
- Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
- Regular, consistent, and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary.

- Minimum 7 to 15 years of progressively responsible experience in all aspects of Local or State Government Affairs related disciplines working with legislators and/or government agencies.
- Prior City of Chicago or State of Illinois Government Affairs experience required.
- Broadband industry experience preferred.
- Must possess excellent organizational skills and sound verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking and presentation skills.
