      Job Description


      Accor is currently looking for an experienced senior lawyer to head up the Legal Commercial and Procurement team in its Europe and North Africa hub. You will report directly to the General Counsel Europe and North Africa, who is based out of London.

      You will join a growing and dynamic team working on all Commercial and Procurement Agreements across the region and align with our Corporate Legal team based in our Paris head office. You will focus your efforts on Accor’s Premium, Midscale & Economy branded hotels.

      You will be in charge of Accor’s legal commercial and procurement activity for the Europe and North Africa Hub. You will ensure that this activity is conducted within applicable laws, will offer counsel on legal issues and, by adopting an effective legal strategy, will facilitate the Company’s growth and business development.

      MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES:

      • Lead and mentor the legal commercial and procurement team of circa 9 lawyers in the ENA Hub and retain and when necessary attract appropriate talent. Develop, direct and motivate the team;
      • Act as a strategic partner to the business and ENA Legal CoDir
      • Comprehensive and independent handling of tasks and cases from the entire field of commercial law in ENA.
      • Independent management of legal correspondence with internal departments and external contractual and negotiating partners, in particular with legal advisors/lawyers of the contractual partners.
      • Preparation of legal decision-making bases for the management and specialist departments.
      • Develop and share know-how in particular by producing template agreements that maximise value and minimise risk for use by the team and its internal clients
      • Keep abreast of legislative changes and communicate as appropriate;
      • Be proactive and look to improve process and business efficiencies. The aim is to simplify and standardize contract management, industrialise legal processes and move towards trans-national legal services.


      Qualifications


      QUALIFICATION / COMPETENCIES:
      • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a variety of commercial agreements to meet the business needs.
      • Ability to work in a team, confident appearance, commitment, initiative, ability to work under pressure
      • Interest in and understanding of economic contexts, in particular, with view to procurement contracts
      • Distinct analytical thinking and acting.
      • Supporting Commercial and Procurement activities, including delivering legal training when applicable
      • High-quality standards of own work.
      • Ability to work independently and to make legally sound decisions or to prepare decision papers.
      • Creating and maintaining standardized template agreements for key service areas and updating legal know-how.
      • Coordinating legal matters with other internal divisions and/or outside counsel and implementing best practices.

      • Strong analytical and technical drafting abilities with keen attention to detail.
      • Confident and calm under pressure, adaptive and resilient to changes, with a positive can-do attitude.
      • French and English – fluent/business-level.
      • Other languages also desirable.

      EXPERIENCE NEEDED:
      • Law degree or equivalent Legal Executive qualification; and
      • Previous dedicated experience in Legal Commercial roles.
      • At least 10+ years PQE (or comparable jurisdiction) commercial or technology transactional experience at a reputable law firm and/or comparable in-house experience.
      • Ample experience working in international environments, preferably in the hospitality, leisure or retail industry.
      • Proven focus on and ties with business, strategic vision, and a track record serving as a business partner.
      • Strong understanding of commercial law.
