      Description

      Purpose of Position

      The Vice President, Lending Operations is responsible for overall management of lending services, including consumer and mortgage lending. Participates in the strategic planning of the department. Monitors and analyzes economic conditions affecting the credit union lending department and recommends appropriate action. Growth of profitable member relationships is a core mission of the organization. Acquisition may be through organic growth, flow, indirect, or acquisition channels based on company needs. Engage existing membership to meet their ongoing credit needs. Facilitate development and awareness of a strong Andrews Federal Credit union brand through lending and a consistent and good member experience during the lending origination and servicing delivery process. Consistently add value back to the credit unions members and enhance the member experience. Reinforce the Andrews Federal vision, mission, and EPIC values by serving as a culture agent, motivating employees to achieve higher standards, and promoting a commitment of excellence.

      Essential Duties

      • Maximize company profitability through appropriate pricing of new loan originations, fee income, and cross-selling of all company products and services.
      • Design, establishes, and maintains an organizational structure and staffing to effectively accomplish goals and objectives; recruits, employs, trains, supervises, and evaluates department staff.
      • Establish and implements short- and long-range organizational goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures; monitors and evaluates program effectiveness; effects changes required for improvement.
      • Lead and build ongoing analytical capabilities within the organization, including but not limited to industry and market research, analytics, forecasting, analysis, projections and value-added reporting. Develop database credit risk management capabilities in the company.
      • On-going development, recommendation and implementation of Credit Policy and regulatory guidelines and compliance.
      • Develop and build key third party relationships with clients, vendors, and industry peers.
      • Automate the lending delivery processes and the decision processes leading to better operational efficiencies and a better member experience.
      • Lead, plan and work with key stakeholders in the credit union to achieve strategic objectives.
      • Lead, involve and motivate staff, peers, and colleagues across the organization.
      • Work with the Board and committees as needed as the organizations lead in lending and risk management.
      • Proactive relationship and management with the NCUA, auditors, examiners – external and internal.
      • Act as the credit unions lead on portfolio or company due diligence.
      • Provide leadership in integrating the Credit unions lending and sales/service objectives leading to colleague and member satisfaction.
      • Understand loss mitigation and default management and work closely with the Collections group.
      • Provide leadership and support for new business development or product initiatives.
      • Foster staff development and accountability. Responsible for the documentation to improve employee’s performance as needed.
      • Complete Andrews Federal's Business Secrecy Act (BSA) training program which includes receipt of a satisfactory testing score annually.
      • Perform other related duties as assigned.

      Required KSAs ( Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

      • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, or related field, or equivalent knowledge required. Master’s degree preferred.
      • Minimum of ten years management experience with consumer, credit, and real estate lending functions in a large credit union or banking environment is required.
      • Experience working in complex environments with a high degree of organizational effectiveness.
      • Comprehensive knowledge of state and federal lending laws required.
      • Ability to solve problems of substantial variety and complexity.
      • Proficiency with Microsoft Office required.
      • Ability to undertake tasks broad in nature, requiring ingenuity and originality.
      • Ability to operate independently, and exercise significant latitude for independent judgment, discretion, and action.
      • Planning, leadership, decision making, innovative solutions, manage performance, business owner mentality.
      • Ability to work with and maximize the mix of new employees and tenured employees to maximize positive credit union outcomes / results.
      • Innovative, creative, process/automation optimization.
      • Analytical, critical thinking capabilities, planner.

      Physical Requirements

      • Ability to sit at a desk and computer for extended periods.
      • This position works out of Andrews Federal Suitland MD office. Ability to travel to stateside branches and offices as needed.
