      Purpose

      The VP, Retail Payments, Card Issuing & Acquiring Business, International Banking (The VP) provides strategic direction, leadership, and oversight of the credit card and payments business for retail and small business clients across International Banking specifically in Mexico, Central America, South Amerca and Caribbean in partnership with local country management teams.

      Accountabilities

      • Leads a customer focused culture throughout their team to help local LatAm markets in Mexico, Central and South America, and Caribbean, to strengthen, deepen, and grow client relationships by leveraging broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.

      • Responsible for designing and standardizing credit card offerings, setting credit card management strategies (along with GRM, i.e., CLD regional policies), and establishing terms and conditions following product program guidelines.

      • Drives attraction and retention of cardholders through effective incentives and benefits programs, while maximizing the Bank’s profitability through pricing.

      • Provides oversight for all payments business activities, having joint P&L accountability for cards and merchant acquiring business in International Banking (along with in-country / regional head), focusing on revenue growth within established risk parameters while prudently managing cost-to-serve in various channels.

      • Leads the design, life cycle management and promotion of all credit card and payment products, ensuring they are competitive and aligned with the Bank's customer value proposition.

      • Partner with Global Business Payments to develop and implement merchant acquiring products and solutions, ensuring competitiveness and alignment with Segments / Sub-segments value propositions.

      • Partners with GRM to ensure consistency in credit underwriting and risk management practices across regions.

      • Partners with Fraud team to enhance the spend-to-spend journey.

      • Partners with segments team to define and co- develop (along with partners and products / solutions teams) standardized value proposition by segment.

      • Leads the build of a global platform with payment partners to optimize incentives, costs, etc.

      • In partnership with local country management and other channel partners, develops annual business plans, forecasts, new initiatives, and business cases. Drives bottom-line results, being jointly accountable for net income, annual growth targets, profit plans, budgets, and all financial measures for credit cards and payments.

      • Collaborates with Data and Analytics group to define analytics strategy for IB by focusing on personalization and MIS as key drivers of decision making, pricing and segmentation lead generation.

      • Leads the strategic relationship and partnership management activities by consulting with key partners, ensuring alignment of all products, services, system implementations and Service Level Agreements.

      • Partners with payments networks, FinTech’s, and other players in the payments ecosystem to develop new solutions and enhanced customer experience.

      • Directs day-to-day activities in a manner consistent with the Banks risk culture and the relevant risk appetite statement and limits. Communicates the Banks risk culture and risk appetite statement throughout their teams.

      Experience/Education

      • University degree with a minimum of 10-15 years’ leadership experience in credit cards and payments.
      • Must have experience in LatAm and/or Caribbean markets.
      • Strong understanding of payments units, products, pricing and profitability, services, operations, systems, and practices.
      • In-depth understanding of payments-related operational processes and controls, including knowledge of organization and infrastructure.
      • Demonstrated ability in leading professional staff both in Head Office and across a distributed network.
      • Very strong working knowledge of Spanish.
