      Intel has announced a major expansion of Intel's production capacities in Europe and plans to develop two first-of-their-kind semiconductor fabs in Magdeburg, Germany, the capital of Saxony-Anhalt. A State Aid Approval procedure for the project is currently pending with the European Commission. According to current planning production at the site is expected to start in four to five years following the European Commission's approval.

      Fab Sort Manufacturing (FSM) is responsible for the production of all internal Intel silicon using some of the most advanced manufacturing processes in the world. With fabs (short for fabrication facilities) in Arizona, Ireland, Israel and Oregon, FSM operates as a highly coordinated virtual factory network, supporting multiple technology nodes. FSM is in an exciting time of growth, delivering output in support of Intel's run of record revenues, and is central to Intel's IDM2.0 strategy. This position is the factory manager of the next EU greenfield mega-site, which is a large-scale, multi fab, over 3000 employee fab operation supporting IDM2.0 wafer supply.

      A successful candidate will be a senior leader who has an established track record of delivering world-class operational results. Key responsibilities include greenfield site enabling activities, transfer and ramp of leading-edge technology and products, overseeing factory operations, delivering on efficiency/cost roadmap, enabling supply agreements, overseeing the facilities operation, local procurement, government interactions and negotiations, and building a highly motivated organization. Individual will plan, develop and manage long and short-range strategic objectives and establish priorities for the organization to deliver business objective. The job offers a unique experience and scope that encompasses bringing a new Intel greenfield mega-site all the way to managing the day-to-day actions needed for running a world class fab operation. This individual will also be an active member of a global business unit staff.

      Responsibilities:

      This role entails intensive planning and design efforts in various areas of this function, for this project and related projects.

      • Role modelling Safety and a Zero injury culture
      • Accountable for all aspects of day-to-day factory management and planning

      • All oversite, planning and management of new site enabling activities, such as:


      o Site Master Plan Development (overall site space strategy) and site enabling/engineering
      o People talent pipeline development, hiring, training grants
      o Academic relationships
      o New hire training and integration
      o Permitting EHS and Construction
      o Tax/Incentives
      o Logistics/Customs
      o Utilities - Infrastructure and rates
      o Contracting strategies
      o Positioning
      o Logistics
      o Materials
      o Local and EU government relations/Public Affairs/Media Response Team
      o Equipment suppliers

      • Lead a highly efficient and motivated team to deliver world-class OpEx results
      • Close collaboration and support to Technology Development during all stages of the technology High-Volume-Manufacturing ramp
      • Define and lead the FSM organizational vision and strategy
      • Drive capacity planning strategies while balancing business needs, partner needs and technological capabilities
      • Collaborate closely with Technology Development, equipment vendors, business units, product engineering and other key stakeholders to deliver on larger business objectives in support FSM requirements
      • Role model Intel values, culture and leadership practices to grow pipeline of managers and leaders
      • Supporting internal and foundry requirements via the FSM program office


      Up until approval by the European Commission the responsibilities of the role are determined by framework set by the pending state aid proceedings.

      Qualifications:

      Minimum Qualifications and requirements:

      • Substantial leadership experience in semiconductor manufacturing with a similar scope and function
      • Education - Must have a Bachelor's degree or post graduate degree in Electrical Eng, Chemical Eng., Material Science, Industrial Engineering or other similar technical degree
      • Candidate must be willing to relocate
      • Fluency in German language is essential
      • In-depth knowledge and experience of silicon manufacturing
      • Previous management and leadership of a large-scale wafer factory operation
      • Ability to motivate and drive toward a high-performing, large organization
      • Must have demonstrated success and influence in a technical, matrixed environment
      • Contract and business management knowledge and skills
      • Successful leadership and impact demonstrated in operating in the EU industrial eco-system
      • Background in fab for continuous improvement in process and cost optimization
      • Strong business acumen and negotiation skills with external stakeholders

      Work Model for this Role

      This role will be eligible for our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site. In certain circumstances the work model may change to accommodate business needs.
