      Overview

      The State of Vermont is seeking a detail-oriented and tech-savvy professional to provide customer support and training to users of VTBuys, the state’s procurement system.

      This role will:

      • Serve as the functional lead for the VTBuys Customer Support Helpdesk.
      • Provide responsive support to internal state employees and external suppliers across all VTBuys modules.
      • Troubleshoot issues such as system errors, transaction problems, login issues, and user setup.
      • Offer one-on-one assistance to users of all computer skill levels—ranging from beginners to advanced.
      • Monitor and manage user access as staff transition in and out of roles or state service.
      • Handle complex support issues, including analyzing rare or high-impact errors and developing ad hoc queries to identify root causes.
      • Collaborate with IT staff when needed to test and implement technical fixes.

      With approximately 2,000 active users, technical expertise and communication skills will be required in order to ensure smooth, efficient operations across state agencies.

      As of July 14, 2025, the step 1 rate for pay grade 25 will be $30.92 per hour.

      This position, VTBuys Customer Support Specialist (Job Requisition #52807), is open to all State employees and external applicants. This is a Limited Service position, which is non-tenured and authorized through 12/30/2026. Limited Service positions are established for specially funded projects or programs.

      Environmental Factors

      Environmental Factors Work is performed in a technical/computer environment involving considerable interaction with software end users and departments' technical support staff along with the Supplier Community. Some overtime work may be required. Some travel to customer locations for training may be necessary.

      Minimum Qualifications

      Three (3) or more years of experience providing customer service support and/or training for business software and systems.

      Preferred Qualifications

      Associate’s degree or higher in accounting, business, or public administration.

      Experience working with VTBuys/Ivalua.

      Experience in a call center or help desk environment.
