      Description

      Job Summary:

      A Flagger / Traffic Safety Technician (TST) 1 will perform a wide range of traffic control and flagging tasks to provide safety and support to our contractors on job sites or public/private roadways. This position is considered a safety-sensitive position per WA Law.


      Duties / Responsibilities:

      The Flagger / Traffic Safety Technician (TST) should:

      • Use hand signals and direction signs to direct traffic around road constructions sites
      • Communicate with other Flaggers/ TSTs using hand-held radios to direct two-way traffic onto a single lane
      • Inform the construction crew of any traffic issues that may affect their safety
      • Appropriately position warning and detour signs around construction sites
      • Set up barricades and traffic cones along construction sites to cordon off certain areas
      • Remove all signs, barricades, and traffic cones upon completion of construction work
      • Perform other related duties as assigned

      Requirements

      The Flagger / Traffic Safety Technician (TST) should have:

      Required Skills / Abilities:

      • Ability to listen to, understand, and follow directions
      • Ability to remain flexible as specific assignments change
      • Ability to work with a variety of personalities
      • Ability to work under pressure
      • Will need to pass a pre-employment drug screen that tests for legal and illegal substances
      • Understanding of basic flagging policies, procedures, rules, and state and federal laws

      Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

      • State valid flagging certification card (Company flagger certification provided if needed)
      • Valid driver's license, to operate company equipment/vehicle
      • CPR certified (preferred, not required upon hire)

      Physical Requirements:

      Key: Rarely (0-20%), Occasionally (21-50%), Frequently (51-80%), and Continuously (81-%)

      • Continuously standing, walking (frequently on uneven surfaces)
      • Frequently bending/stooping
      • Rarely crawling
      • Frequently repetitive motion of hands/wrists
      • Occasionally kneeling
      • Occasionally climbing
      • Continuously grasping
      • Frequently push, pull, lift and carry up to 50 lbs

      Work Environment

      This position generally requires 8 hours a day, if not sometimes more depending on the project. The workweek is Monday-Friday and occasionally on weekends/nights depending on the project. This position requires work in the outdoors in all types of weather. It involves walking, standing, bending, and possibly stooping for extended periods, as well as carrying and lifting heavy objects. The location of this position will be listed on an offer letter
