- Graduate of a post-secondary secretarial or office administration program or equivalent required
- Graduate of an approved Medical Terminology Program is required
- Previous working experience within healthcare required; experience in ambulatory care an asset
- Demonstrated skills and experience with Windows and Microsoft applications including Word, Outlook and Explorer, as well as Meditech computer training and experience required
- Knowledge of HASP/SAP supply and equipment ordering considered an asset
- Excellent organizational, communication and customer service skills
- Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize, problem solve and work under pressure of time limitations
- Demonstrated ability to work independently as well a member of a multidisciplinary healthcare team

About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Ambulatory Services Manager, the Ward Assistant is responsible for daily flow and function within Outpatient Clinics, including clerical duties and support functions within the department. Duties include but are not limited to booking clinic space, arranging appointments, faxing consults, prepping laboratory and diagnostic requisitions, answering phones, taking messages, stocking and cleaning rooms and equipment etc. The Ward Assistant provides support to the Health Care providers utilizing the clinic space during clinic time. The Ward Assistant must be knowledgeable of infection control practices including disinfecting of equipment and be proficient in supporting patient flow for the operation of multiple simultaneous clinics.

$20.09 - $21.90 hourly
