      Job summary

      We are looking for a competent and professional Ward Clerk for our trauma orthopaedic and plastics acute admissions ward at University Hospital Of North Durham. Ward 16 provides inpatient care to emergency patients with trauma orthopaedics and plastics injuries.

      As a Ward Clerk you will act as the focal point for the Ward and their team, confidentiality being the key issue at all times. You will provide a high standard of administration support to the Ward Manager, medical staff and their team, interacting with other departments, patients and their visitors.

      Main duties of the job

      Undertake general clerical duties in the clinical area including completing records, filing, photocopying, handling mail and filing in case notes.

      Provide an accurate account of bed management on our IT system e.g. admissions, transfers and discharges.

      Answer the telephone, relaying any relevant messages when required.

      Book any appointments needed for patients and ensure the patients are informed of times and dates.

We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.
