      Job summary

Are you interested in helping patients have a great experience at UCLH and help our busy ward staff with organising patient flow? Are you a good communicator, organised and determined to make a difference for patients?

      Main duties of the job

We are recruiting Patient Flow Coordinators to work across our surgical and medical wards at University College Hospital. The flow coordinators will work with the Patient Flow Matron and ward teams to ensure our patients do not wait for any aspect of care and are discharged promptly so the next patients can be admitted quickly. The role will involve talking to patients and their families/carers, working closely with the whole ward multi-disciplinary team and the integrated discharge service. Some of the key aspects of the role will be working with the doctors to ensure drugs for home are prescribed well ahead of discharge, discharging patients before 12.00, transferring patients to the patient lounge, attending ward huddles and using Epic to communicate about discharge.

  • About the company

National Health Service (NHS) is the umbrella term for the publicly-funded healthcare systems of the United Kingdom (UK). The founding principles were that services should be comprehensive, universal and free at the point of delivery—a health service based on clinical need, not ability to pay. Each service provides a comprehensive range of health services, free at the point of use for people ordinarily resident in the United Kingdom apart from dental treatment and optical care.
