Job Description

- Use yard hosteler to safely move trailers and containers according to daily business needs
- Ensure that trailer inventory is taken daily
- Must be able to maintain both North and South yard’s as to positioning of trailers, etc.
- Responsible for safe operation, preventive maintenance, and repairs of yard switcher equipment
- Must maintain a current/valid Class A driver’s license, medical card, and medical long form
- Minimum of 2 years tractor-trailer driving experience, including driving in winter/harsh weather conditions
- Inspect all trailers for damage, necessary repairs and inspection expirations, per Department of Transportation regulations
- Report any problems with equipment or safety concerns
- Drives truck to destination according to dispatch direction and customer requirements to achieve on time performance
- Inspects truck and trailer (equipment) before and after trips and submits reports indicating conditions in a timely manner
- Assist with related Special Projects when required
- Compliance to Company Policies with respect to the Employee Handbook, Safety Regulations and the use of company supplied Equipment and Resources
- Other Duties may be assigned as required
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and occasionally required to stand, walk, and stoop, kneel, crouch and climb.
- The employee must also use hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials and manipulating items.
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- This job also requires the ability to respond quickly to a signal (sound, light, picture) when it appears and the ability to choose quickly between two or more movements in response to two or more different signals using two or more limbs simultaneously.
- Also required to climb in and out of a commercial vehicle throughout a normal work shift, numerous times per day.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color and peripheral vision.
- Depth perception is also required to judge the distance between objects as well as night vision to see under low lighting conditions.
