Full-Time and Permanent; 8 Hours/Day; 252 Days/year; 12 Months/Year; Grade EE General Responsibilities This position is responsible for the efficient storage and distribution of School Nutrition food, supplies and equipment. Work involves receiving, storing, and shipping stock and nonstock items in the central warehouse. Work also involves sorting, counting, inspecting, and submitting proper paperwork for data entry and inventory control. Work requires the operation of a pallet jack, forklift, and other material handling equipment. Employees in this classification must ensure warehouse spaces are complaint with all Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) and that Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are consistently followed. The Warehouse Clerk will have frequent contact with delivery personnel and others and must be able to communicate effectively. The Warehouse Clerk may also be required to transport items to schools and other locations when requested, using NPS vehicle. Education and Experience High school education and some experience in warehouse operations is needed. A combination of education and experience that would provide the above noted knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered in the absence of warehouse operation experience. License/Certfication Forklift Certification and Virginia Commercial Driver’s License are required and must be obtained within the fifteen-week probationary period. Norfolk Public Schools will provide required training at no cost to the employee. Essential Job Functions Receives and stores incoming items; issues out-going items; maintains stock, non-stock, and equipment in a neat and orderly manner. Assists with loading and unloading of delivery trucks; signs for shipments; completes receiving reports; obtains a description of items received and the classification number; completes a Damage Report form on all damaged items; checks items received and compares to purchase order as to quantity, quality, description, and inspection certificate as applicable; returns all paperwork to the receiving office in a timely manner. Responsible for checking and recording temperatures of all food products received in compliance with HACCP regulations. Stores food, supplies, and equipment in their proper location; rotates stock in accordance with first-in, first out procedures (FIFO). Issues inventory as directed in pick tickets, hand receipts, and emergency requisitions. Operates motorized forklift, manual and motorized pallet jacks, hand truck, pallet chain pulley; communication devices and delivery truck to perform essential functions. Assists with spot-checks and semi-annual physical inventory of food, supplies and equipment; counts and tallies items; discusses stock related problems. Performs the duties of School Nutrition truck driver as needed. Maintain driver eligibility per Norfolk Public Schools regulations. Perform related work as required.About the company
