- Material Handlers are expected to work productively and safely in ALL areas of the job. They are required to maintain a clean and uncluttered work area to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Handlers are required to continually pick up cardboard, plastic, and wood pieces from the work area.
- The Material Handler is typically assigned to work in a perishable department (30°- 45°). Depending on the workload, material handlers will work on the Inbound and Outbound docks as needed.
- Product is secured by various methods to prevent the product from shifting and being damaged in transit. Therefore, you may be required to cut, remove, and discard these multiple materials to perform the necessary work to the load. These materials include plastic wrapping, corner cardboard bands, metal bands, netting, and dunnage bags.
- Pallets are an essential part of the Inbound and Outbound process. They weigh an average of 35 pounds but can weigh as much as 65 pounds. Cases of product must be stacked atop pallets of acceptable quality so the product can be transported within the warehouse and ultimately stored in the racking system. A Handler can expect to process between 50 and 200+ pallets daily.
- Material Handlers will operate pallet jacks, forklifts, and hand jacks to complete loads or assignments.
- Material Handlers will do other jobs, including repacking, merchandizing, Quality re-work, sorting/grading, and specialty service.
- Material Handlers will follow all FHI safety, food safety, and radiation safety procedures.
- Follow all Food Defense, Good Manufacturing Practices, and HACCP program instructions. Must report any problem or irregular situation related to food safety to the Food Safety Department or their direct supervisor.
- Must be able to lift, walk, bend, twist, reach, push, and squat most of the workday. Must be able to handle cases weighing 25 to 95 pounds and expect to handle between 50 and 200+ pallets on any given day. (Average weight is between 35 and 65).
- The ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and/or other sounds (e.g., machinery alarms or alarms) in moderate to loud work environments.
- We believe that skills and experience genuinely matter. While education can be a valuable asset, it is not required to succeed in this role.
- Experience working in a warehouse environment (e.g., order selector/picking product Storage, product staging, cherry picker/forklifts, etc.) is preferred but not required.
- Ability to effectively communicate and exhibit the ability to comprehend directions and report or convey information
- Basic Math skills.
- Must interact respectfully and courteously with co-workers, customers, and vendors.
- Demonstrate safety consciousness and set the tone for a safe, productive, respectful work environment. Handle the customer's product safely.
- Demonstrate understanding of preventive measures to reduce freight and property damage.
- Demonstrate interest in and understanding all FHI policies, procedures, and other employment issues.

- Ability to speak, read, and write English for effective communication.
- This position is designated as safety-sensitive by the company, and the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is required. Warehouse environment with extreme heat and cold temperatures.
- Work in temperatures as low as -20 degrees in cold storage sites or up to 110 degrees in dry storage sites while wearing company-provided personal protective equipment and freezer gear.

The Warehouse Material Handler will work on the inbound dock, depalletizing product pallets and stacking them on convey lines. Before placing cases on the convey line, handlers will put labels on cases to be scanned into the logistics management system. Hand-stacking cases of products is an integral and repetitive part of the Inbound and Outbound process.
Shift start time: 8 AM
Work Schedule: - Monday - Saturday. 5-6 day work week. Rotating Saturdays
Pay: $12.50/hr
Work Environment : This is a cold/cooler environment. The average temperature is around 42 Degrees. You must be comfortable working in this environment.
