      Overview

      A Warehouse Specialist is and entry level position responsible for performing a combination of manual or automated tasks necessary for the receipt, storage, and shipment of products under direct supervision of team leads and supervisors. This may include functions of receiving, picking, packing, shipping, staging, transporting, storage, delivery, etc. or any other warehouse related assignments. Performs a variety of duties in connection with receiving, rotating, storing and distributing of hospital supplies.

      Responsibilities

      A receiver handles the receiving of items in a warehouse or backroom of a store, and ensures that the shipments are inspected, sorted, and stored in the warehouse or stocked on shelves as needed. They need to keep up with invoices to make sure orders are correct. Receivers will monitor shelves to restock as needed and place orders for both inventory and shipping supplies when they are low. As a receiver, you need to have strong communication and organizational skills, be able to multitask but also be attentive to detail. You must be able to use computer software, mainly shipment tracking software to monitor shipments. You must be able to meet the physical requirements of this job such as bending, lifting heavy boxes, distributing supplies, packages, and operating machinery.

      Qualifications

      Education:

      Requires ability to read, write and perform simple arithmetic calculations and basic knowledge of sterile processing techniques normally acquired during full time participation in brief vocational education program.

      Experience

      One to three months prior experience or on-the-job training needed for minimum job proficiency.

      Additional Skills/Abilities

      Must be able to work in a fast paced environment, requiring prioritizing and changing tasks frequently and quickly. Excellent communication skills including the ability to communicate with people from diverse socio-economic backgrounds and the ability to use effective interpersonal and teamwork skills when working with a variety if people and situations. Must be able to prioritize assignments independently and participate in everyday problem solving. Must have quality orientation and be attentive to detail.

      • Material handling equipment experience preferred
      • Good written communication skills
      • 1-2 years of experience in a warehouse environment
      • Proficiency in Microsoft Office preferred
