      DEFINITION
      To perform a variety of duties and responsibilities involved in receiving, storing, assembling, and delivering supplies and equipment to District school sites and offices.
      SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
      Receives general supervision from the Warehouse/Purchasing Supervisor.
      Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
      1. Coordinate the repair and maintenance of all warehouse vehicles and equipment; maintain accurate maintenance schedules; set appointments with outside vendors for needed maintenance and repair.
      2. Shipping, receiving and inspecting incoming and outgoing equipment and supplies for conformity to purchase order; report shortages, damages, and/or other discrepancies; maintain appropriate records, including UPS and U.S. Mail procedures.
      3. Identify, mark, and store merchandise in proper location using forklifts and pallets.
      4. Perform periodic counts of stock; identify items that require ordering.
      5. Fill warehouse requisitions; prepare orders for delivery to schools and offices; coordinate with data processing to ensure a proper count of inventory; check and verify accuracy of orders assembled by others.
      6. Load trucks and deliver books, audio-visual equipment, cafeteria supplies and food, and other District supplies and equipment to school sites, offices, and cafeterias.
      7. Pick up money from District office and deliver to bank; pick up and deliver inter-school mail.
      8. Answer the telephone and provide information to other departments, school sites, and outside vendors and suppliers.
      9. Clean and maintain warehouse.
      10. Maintain assigned vehicle; check fluid levels.
      11. Assist in storing and cataloging furniture and supplies for District operations
      12. May assist with moving, assembling and cleaning furniture, as needed, and if scheduling permits.
      13. May act as Warehouse Manager as directed.
      14. Perform related duties as assigned.

      Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
      Experience:
      One year of responsible professional/institutional warehousing experience.
      Training:
      Formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance.

      Licenses and Certifications
      • Possession of an appropriate, valid driver's license.
      • Possession of an appropriate, valid California driver's license prior to the completion of the probationary period.
      • Ability to be covered under the District property/liability insurance.
      • Ability to obtain a valid National Safety Council Forklift Operator's Training Course Certificate

      Examination
      Testing procedures may consist of a written multiple-choice examination, skills performance, and oral interview examination. Applicants meeting the minimum qualifications will be required to take the exam and notified via email communication of the scheduled date, time, and location. A valid picture identification is required prior to admittance.

      After the exam procedure concludes for this recruitment, an eligibility list will be established to fill future vacancies. When eligibility lists include open and promotional lists of qualified persons through competitive examination, the promotional list will be used first, unless otherwise stated on this bulletin.

      Work Schedule
      This position typically works full-time eight (8) hours per day; 40 hour work week; 12-month work calendar.

      Salary and Benefits
      The salary rate for a new employee is at the first step of the appropriate five-step salary schedule for the position. The probationary period is 130 work days (not counting sick, industrial accident). Upon becoming permanent, a one-step salary advance shall be granted with future annual advances up to the fifth step of the salary schedule.

      Holidays and Leaves
      Seventeen (17) paid holidays that fall within the work year, pursuant to the District's Collective Bargaining Agreement with California Schools Employees Association Chapter 296 (CSEA).

      Sick leave shall be granted in the proportion of daily hours worked. Vacation is earned at the prescribed rate as part of compensation, and does not become vested until after completion of the initial probationary period.

      Work Environment
      Work is regularly performed indoors in a warehouse, office, freezer and storage areas. Regular exposure to operation of forklifts, district vehicles in work space and semi-trucks on receiving bay. Open doors to warehouse can create wind and dust. Outdoor surfaces can include asphalt, concrete, dirt, grass, and gravel.

      Physical Demands
      Incumbents are required to lift, and/or carry objects weighing up to 52 pounds. Significant walking; some standing, lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, climbing, balancing, bending, kneeling, stooping, squatting; frequent twisting at waist; some twisting of the neck side-to-side, reaching, sitting, driving using forklift or assigned vehicles; significant fine finger dexterity to write, perform data entry, use computer keyboard and mouse, and two-way radio; see and hear in normal range with or without correction.
