      Position Requirements

      Hiring Criteria :

      The position may be a paid position and/or for school credit. However, the candidate must currently be a student attending college/university or must have graduated in the last six (6) months.

      Education Requirements:

      • Junior, Senior, or Graduate level student majoring in Computer Science, Math, Statistics, or a related field.

      Experience Requirements

      • Proficient in scripting and automation languages (e.g., JavaScript, VBA, SQL)
      • Proficient in software including Adobe and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
      • Experience in developing data visualizations for internal and external stakeholders
      • Experience with at least one key analytics tool (Tableau, Power BI, SQL, etc.)

      License Requirements:

      • Current Colorado Driver's license "R", with a satisfactory driving record required. [If driving is required]

      Pre-Employment Requirements:

      • A background check including, education, work experience, and criminal history.
      • If driving is required, we'll also request:
        • A motor vehicle background check.
        • A pre-placement clinic appointment which may include a physical, drug and alcohol test, strength test, and worker's compensation background test.

      Job Description

      Summer Position:

      Full Time - 40 hours per week

      Monday - Friday [8:00am - 5:00pm] (On-Site)

      Internship Project Description:

      This intern will join the Water Quality & Treatment (WQ&T) division and will:

      • Support continuous monitoring of water quality, metrics, process components, assets, water reservoirs, and distribution data to empower decision making and optimization efforts
      • Develop training materials and guidance for use of data visualization software by operations, engineers, and water quality technicians
      • Use programming languages to analyze and compile data for various WQ&T customers, and communicate findings through data visualization tools
      • Work directly with division customers to understand their data needs and provide technical support
      • Develop database queries and templates to effectively streamline standard processes.

      Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities to perform this intern project:

      • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and data accuracy
      • Ability/desire to work independently
      • Strong written and oral communication skills
      • Basic understanding of water quality and treatment processes
      • Ability to understand customer needs and use analytical tools to empower decisions

      About Denver Water

      During the Summer Intern Program, there are THREE (3) REQUIRED ATTENDANCE EVENTS. All interns must participate.

      Intern positions do not come with any benefits other than holiday pay (if the employee worked for more than 20 days before the holiday) and Accrued Paid Sick Leave. Interns and Denver Water Temps accrue one hour of Accrued Paid Sick Leave per 30 hours worked, up to 48 hours per year per the Colorado Healthy Families and Workplaces Act .
