Job Description

- Bachelor's degree in computer science with coursework in web development, software engineering, or similar
- 3+ years of solid technical experience in UI/Front-end development - Advance proficiency in code writing and programming languages such as HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript and ARIA
- In-depth and extensive knowledge in Accessibility experience of software, web, and documents
- Extensive knowledge and experience with respect to accessibility standards and guidelines (WCAG 2.0/2.1, WAI-ARIA, UAAG and ATAG)
- Knowledge of disability law including but not limited to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act (Section 504)
- Experience with accessibility evaluation tools such as Chrome accessibility developer tools, ally, Axe, Inspect, WAI toolbar
- Experience teaching or training users on effective uses of technologies
- Experience with Assistive Technology such as screen readers (JAWS, NVDA, ChromeVox, MAC/IOS Voiceover, Talkback, magnifiers, alternative input, read-aloud tools, etc.) with the understanding of their interactions with multiple browsers and platform combinations
- Working experience in Multi-Discipline interaction (iPad, iPhone, Android Phone, Tablets) an asset
- Experience with accessibility audit and quality assurance tools and processes
- Exceptional ability to contribute innovation and creativity to website designs
- Strong interpersonal, collaboration, and communication skills
- Excellent organizational and time management capabilities. Keen attention to detail and advanced troubleshooting skills
- Experience with JIRA, Confluence. Passion for building and helping others build accessible UIs
- Experience working with Visual Studio, WebStorm or similar IDEs. Experience with version control Git, TFS or similar
- Demonstrated ability to effectively and independently lead projects to completion
Web Accessibility Developer
with hands on experience in design, program, test, and debug web applications according to accessibility specifications. Responsible for identifying and suggesting potential solutions for accessibility barriers based on the W3C WCAG standards as well as compliance with the ADA, Section 508, and other accessibility related laws. Should be an excellent communicator and well-versed in explaining and implementing accessibility and disability standards, regulations, and best practices including WCAG 2.0/2.1, Section 508, WAI-ARIA, UAAG and ATAG.
