      Job Title: Welder Fitter


      Job Description

      This position is for a Welder Fitter specializing in welding using Dual Shield with a large 16" weld wire size. The role involves reading blueprints, building parts, and performing layouts. Employees are expected to select equipment, plan part layout, cut, fit, tack materials, and weld out according to engineering production drawings. Welding without the use of fixtures and setting up and adjusting machines and equipment as needed are integral parts of the job.

      Responsibilities

      • Perform welding using Dual Shield with large 16" weld wire size.
      • Read and interpret blueprints for part construction and layout.
      • Build parts and perform layouts according to engineering production drawings.
      • Select equipment and plan part layout: cut, fit material, tack material, and weld out.
      • Layout workpieces per drawing without guidance or using standard fixtures.
      • Read and use measuring tools such as tape measures, compasses, micrometers, mag levels, protractors, versa gauges, and calipers.
      • Set up and adjust machines and equipment to produce quality welds.

      Essential Skills

      • At least 3 years of MIG welding experience.
      • Ability to weld without fixtures.
      • Proficient in weld layout, including cutting, fitting, and tacking materials according to prints.
      • Experience reading blueprints and weld symbols.
      • Knowledge of fabrication and structural steel welding.

      Additional Skills & Qualifications

      • Experience with large wire size and heavy material welding.
      • Ability to assemble and layout parts per prints without using fixtures.

      Work Environment

      The work environment involves large structural steel and operates on a first shift schedule, typically 8-hour days. It is not temperature-controlled, so proper attire including steel-toed boots and a welding helmet is required.

      This is a Contract position based out of Eureka, Illinois.

      Pay and Benefits

      The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $26.00/hr.
