      Minimum Requirements

      Education and Experience

      • High School Diploma or GED.
      • Minimum 1 year of related work experience.
      • Any equivalent combination of certifications, education, or experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities for the position.

      Licenses, Registration, and Certifications

      • Must be able to possess and maintain a valid Class ‘R’ Colorado driver’s license and have a satisfactory driving record.
      • 6G Certification must be obtain within 6 months of hire.

      Respiratory Protection Testing

      • This position is subject to respiratory protection testing as directed per Denver Water Physician.

      Mask Surveillance Screening

      • This position is subject to mask surveillance screening as directed per Denver Water Physician.

      Job Description

      Position Summary

      Under direct supervision, perform skilled work related to the welding trade in the fabrication, installation, maintenance and repairing of mechanical systems related to pumps, valves, motors, compressors, generators, HVAC, chillers, cooling towers, hydro-electric plants, doors, piping systems, domestic water supply systems, cranes, specialty tools and machines, and other related mechanical systems.

      Essential Duties and Responsibilities

      • Utilize welding type techniques to fabricate, install, maintain and repair complex mechanical equipment located at sites outside and inside various Denver Water facilities.
      • Perform welding duties related to oxyacetylene welding, SMAW, TIG welding, MIG welding, brazing, trimming, cutting and fabrication of piping, and metal related structures supporting pumps, valves, motors, piping, air compressors, chillers, cooling towers, hydroelectric plants, doors, gates, accumulator systems, cranes, elevators, hatches, lids, and other related equipment.
      • Prepare metals for welding by grinding, chipping, grooving, beveling, pre-heating, tacking, arranging, and fastening work to fixtures or supports.
      • Read and layout work from blueprints and sketches and draw up sketches for parts fabrication and as-built drawings.
      • Maintain welding tools and equipment in proper condition by cleaning and oiling machinery and reporting needed repairs. Assist in dismantling and assembling equipment undergoing repair.
      • Set up and install necessary rigging in the handling of equipment and materials.
      • Perform basic administrative duties including completing required paperwork, logging projects on computers, and completing timecards.
      • Set up, operate, and perform duties related to CNC plasma cutting.
      • Perform related work as required.
