      POSITION SUMMARY:

      We are seeking an experienced Part-Time welder / fabricator to join our team (1st Shift) at a leading custom automation machine builder located in Wyoming, Michigan. This position plays a key role in the fabrication of structural frames, machine bases, and precision components used in custom systems. The ideal candidate is highly skilled in MIG and TIG welding, comfortable interpreting mechanical drawings, and experienced working in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.


      EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

      • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical welding certification preferred.
      • 3+ years of welding and fabrication experience, preferably in a custom machinery or automation environment.

      QUALIFICATIONS:

      • Proficient in MIG and TIG welding techniques.
      • Strong ability to read and interpret mechanical and fabrication drawings.
      • Familiarity with fabrication shop equipment and measurement tools.
      • High attention to detail, quality craftsmanship, and safety.
      • Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and working in a hands-on environment.

      Preferred Skills:

      • Experience in automation machine building or industrial equipment fabrication.
      • AWS Certification or other industry-recognized welding credentials.
      • Forklift and overhead crane operation experience or certification.

      RESPONSIBILITIES:

      • Read and interpret detailed engineering drawings and welding symbols for custom automation equipment.
      • Weld and fabricate metal assemblies using MIG and TIG processes on materials including steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
      • Perform layout, fitting, cutting, bending, and shaping of components using fabrication tools such as press brakes, saws, grinders, and torches.
      • Assemble and tack weld parts with precision, ensuring squareness, alignment, and proper tolerance.
      • Collaborate with machine builders, engineers, and project managers to meet deadlines and ensure fabrication accuracy.
      • Inspect completed welds and fabricated components to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
      • Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all safety policies and procedures.
      • Operate overhead cranes and forklifts as required (training provided if necessary).
