      Subaru of Indiana Automotive, Inc. or “SIA”, located in Lafayette, Indiana, is the only Subaru vehicle manufacturing facility outside of Japan. SIA is a 4.4 million square foot automotive OEM – meaning our manufacturing process begins with coils of steel and ends with the high-quality vehicles you see out on the roads. We employ 6500+ Associates, both production and administrative, all under one roof.

      SIA is the safest automotive manufacturing plant in the United States and is also a pillar in the community due to its numerous fundraising activities held onsite, donations to local charities and plentiful volunteer opportunities. SIA is a frontrunner in environmental conservation being the first Zero-Landfill automotive manufacturing plant and the first to have its campus designated a backyard wildlife habitat. SIA has grown tremendously since its 1989 beginnings and continues to be an example of success within the automotive industry.

      Outline of duties:

      • Apply knowledge of welding processes, procedures, equipment, and evaluation techniques to deliver weld quality objectives.
      • Implement weld quality strategy during launch and product or process change events.
      • Train and assist weld inspection team.
      • Develop weld control plans and enforce requirements.
      • Apply engineering principles and analytical techniques to establish and continuously improve manufacturing processes and products.
      • Implement interim and permanent corrective actions to resolve quality issues using Root-Cause analysis, PDCA Cycles, Fishbone analysis, etc.
      • Identify sources of variation within a production environment effectively and efficiently.
      • Support expedited concern resolution with cross-functional teams including the Quality Department, Maintenance Department, Production, and Suppliers.
      • Review incoming quality concerns to maintain quality within Body Shop and initiate containment as necessary, determining root cause and implementing corrective actions.

      Minimum Qualifications:

      • Bachelor's degree in: Welding Technology, Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related field
      • Robotic Welding exposure in a manufacturing setting.
      • Advanced skills with Microsoft Excel and Word.
      • Experience using 3D Software (CAD, SolidWorks, etc.).
      • Ability to work overtime, as needed.

      Desired Qualifications:

      • 3+ years' experience in a high-volume industrial manufacturing environment.
      • Automotive industry experience and vehicle body assembly experience is a plus.
      • Experience in an automated industrial manufacturing environment with exposure to robotics, automated material handling systems, and communication networks.
      • Working understanding of quality fundamentals, basic measurement methods, and statistical process control (SPC).
