      SHOP FOREMAN

      Job Description:

      The primary function of the Shop Foreman is to direct all fabrication and production in the area or on the project assigned, with a focus on safety and quality, by following the directives given by Superintendent. Lead assigned shop personnel and managed productivity and shortfalls by communicating needs to Superintendent.

      Essential Functions:

      • Support all TTI/FSS Company Safety Policies to ensure they are followed
      • Manage and direct all personnel assigned with a focus on safety, quality, and production
      • Communicate equipment and personnel needs to meet production levels to the Superintendent
      • Review all drawings on the jobs assigned and know and understand what work will be in fabrication on the floor and follow the plan directed by the Superintendent for how and what to fabricate
      • Know all shop personnel and their attributes to plan for the most productive placement of shop personnel
      • Ensure the assigned area or job is adequately staffed for all shifts to meet production needs by communicating needs to the Superintendent
      • Coordinate with Facility Maintenance Manager for area/job maintenance needs to ensure equipment downtime has a limited effect on production and inform Superintendent of any concerns
      • Understand and follow all QC hold points and inspection requirements
      • Ensure shop employees follow all shop procedures and company policies while meeting production goals
      • Inform the Superintendent of any issues that will affect production, quality, or safety
      • Coach and develop all shop personnel and determine what training they require and what position they can fill that will benefit the shop the most and relay information to Superintendent
      • Take responsibility for all shop tools and equipment assigned
      • Share shop resources with all Foreman based on project urgency

      Additional Duties:

      • Additional responsibilities or duties may be required as needed in support of company operations.

      Qualifications

      • Individuals must be able to perform each essential function and represent the company in a professional manner. The requirements listed are representative of the minimum knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform the job
      • The Shop Foreman must have a background in supervision, fabrication, and production planning and possess strong interpersonal skills.

      Teamwork

      Teamwork is essential in this position and the General Foreman must have a positive attitude and be able to work effectively with all departments, managers and staff.

      Actively participate in Safety meetings and promote company safety culture while working closely with safety department.

      Education and/or Experience

      • High School Diploma
      • 3+ years’ experience in custom steel fabrication

      Language Skills

      Must be able to communicate professionally and effectively with co-workers, other departments, and managers.

      Reporting

      • This position reports directly to the Shop Superintendent and will work closely with all other Shop Foreman to meet safety, quality, and production expectations.
