      Ivy Tech seeks a qualified Welding Instructor to supplement the instruction needs of our students at the Tell City, IN campus. This is an in person role at the Tell City, IN campus.

      Adjunct Faculty positions are temporary, part-time positions hired each semester on an as-needed basis. The adjunct faculty member will be responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided by the School.

      Major Responsibilities:

      Candidates considered for adjunct positions under this postings must be able to provide instruction in person at the Tell City, IN campus.

      PROGRAM OPERATION:

      • Perform all instructional duties necessary to teach and facilitate student learning in assigned classes.

      • Provide syllabus appropriate to course(s) being taught to students and follows syllabus content and requirements.

      • Maintain student attendance and grading records according to College policy as outlined in the Adjunct Handbook.

      • Submits requested information within established timelines.

      STUDENTS:

      • Is available to students outside scheduled class time to answer questions/provide assistance.

      • Deal with student concerns and, if necessary, consult with program coordinator to resolve issues.

      INSTRUCTION:

      • Meet all scheduled classes of contracted course(s). Use technology such as Blackboard, PowerPoint, etc. as appropriate.

      • In event of emergency absence, notifies program/department chair.

      • Conduct all activities with an appreciation and respect for diversity of people, styles, and views. Promote same as an integral part of one's work.

      Hiring Range:

      • $45.00 per contact hour (approximately $2,160 per 8-week course).

      Work Hours:

      • This position would teach during the day during the week.

      Minimum Qualifications:

      • Possesses GMAW or GTAW certification.
      • Three years of directly related work experience to the subject/field being taught.

      Preferred Qualifications:

      • Experience providing instruction at a post-secondary institute.

      • The worker is subject to extreme heat: Temperatures above 100 degrees for periods of more than hour.
      • The worker is subject to noise: There is sufficient noise to cause worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level
      • The worker is subject to oils: There is air and/or skin exposure to oils and other cutting fluids
      • The worker is required to wear a respirator
      • Rarely/Never
      • The worker is subject to outside environmental conditions: No effective protection from weather
      • The worker is subject to both environmental conditions: Activities occur inside and outside
      • The worker is subject to extreme cold: Temperatures typically below 32 degrees for periods of more than one hour.
      • The worker is subject to vibration: Exposure to oscillating movements of extremities or whole body
