- Bachelor's Degree in counseling, social work, public health, or another related field
- 1+ years experience in substance use treatment, harm reduction, and/or public health in the substance use field

- Eligible for a Texas license in professional counseling or social work. LCDC, LPC, LCSW, or LMSW
- Computer literate- especially PowerPoint, Excel, Work, Google Drive, and Zoom
- Experience
- One or more years of experience providing wellbeing case management or wellbeing education/community level social services to a culturally diverse young adult population (includes experience gained in internships and /or other related pre-master's experience)
- Outreach or prevention specialist
- Facilitated psychoeducational groups
- Experience as a high school or college level counselor/case manager
- Creates and delivers mental health and substance use outreach programming/community-level social services for Rice students as well as faculty and staff, based on the current needs of the University
- Oversees the Caregiving program, including training students, planning, and roster management
- Advises the Substance Use Task Force student organization to evaluate, address, and create programming to address substance use on campus, provide alternative events to those which involve using substances, and empower students to choose healthy behaviors
- Utilizes existing and formulates new methods for the assessment of student needs and substance use and misuse trends and contributors
- Identifies and implements tailored interventions, programs, and initiatives to address substance use cultures and the community of students at Rice
- Works with student leaders to create and provide education during high-risk times on campus or high-risk events
- Attends college events, student government events and meetings, hosts outreach events in the residential colleges, in graduate housing, and academic departments
- Provides case management and wellbeing advising for students whose behavior, academic progress, or mental or physical impairment indicate a need for assistance
- Maintains case history and programming records, and prepares reports when necessary
- Employee may be assigned or required to perform additional duties to the benefit of the department or University
- Participates in after-hours student meetings and campus events
- Designs marketing strategies and graphic materials
- Advises student organizations and student leaders
- Provides student crisis management, as needed

Position Summary:
The Student Wellbeing Office at Rice University supports student development and success by providing a good first point of contact for students who want to talk to someone about solutions to their wellbeing and mental health concerns. In our efforts to continue supporting the changing needs of students regarding holistic wellbeing, we are looking for a passionate and skilled educator to specialize in substance use and misuse education, prevention, and harm reduction. The candidate who will best suit this position will have experience in substance misuse prevention, as well as a deep commitment to helping the diverse and highly driven students on the Rice campus.
The Student Wellbeing Office is seeking a full-time Wellbeing Advisor. This position will provide in-person outreach programming, occasional virtual programs, and individual case management for Rice graduate and undergraduate students on campus, and consultations on mental health and administrative issues for faculty, staff, students, and student family members.
Workplace Requirements
This position is fully on-campus. The wellbeing advisor is responsible for setting a flexible schedule to address community needs, which includes working days, in the evenings and on some weekends on campus.
Hiring Range: The expected hiring range is between $46,000 - $48,000 annually, contingent upon qualifications and experience.
Exempt (salaried) positions under FLSA are not eligible for overtime.
